The "Dakota" trip is here and it starts with the Jacks in Frost. Have to defend the three against this team especially in their gym and hopefully Mr. Nate can be slowed down a little by whomever may be guarding him. I don't have to be worried about this team being motivated. Two more wins and they beat the league record for consecutive wins tied by us last season and Cleveland St. So go get em Grizz!!!

Been looking forward to this match-up for a bit now to see how the League's two best offensive teams match-up. Oakland has to own the paint in this game with points in the paint, second chance points, rebounds, and not letting SDSU guards get easy points off the dribble. Hoping for Benson and Hudson to assert themselves early and often. Looking forward to Benson breaking that blocks record!! Although I feel like we say this against almost every Summit team, we really have to win this game in the paint. Our bigs have been quiet (well mostly Kito) as of late and they need to wake up! SDSU is a scrappy, motivated team that can shoot the 3. I think we definitely have the advantage down low and we need to exploit that.
I think we could beat them at a shooting game, because we have some amazing shooters, but you never know whose going to show up for us behind the arc. We need to establish offensive rebounds and points in the paint!
Another factor that is rarely talked about around the Summit league is the home court advantage. I know we have been in a few of the toughest arenas over the years, but this SDSU team has a huge following and a very excitable crowd. I've witnessed first hand in Sioux Falls where the entire stadium gets on their feet and starts making tons of noise when their team goes on a run. That being said, we need to treat SDSU like we treat a BCS school, taking the crowd out of the game and limiting their large runs.
Go Grizzlies!

Man do I love seeing the game thread posted! It is always hard to get through the day focused and to not think about OU basketball on game days! This will be a very tough game! I hope the game is on channelsurfing so I can see Wolters again and watch the Reggie v. Wolters matchup. I agree with ouguy that they need to take a BCS mind set into this game. The Dakotas are very tough, and SDSU is the better of them this year. Can't wait for 8 o clock.

I like the respect shown to Oakland in the Argus preview:
"In fact, they've practically transcended the Summit as evident in their non-conference slate. Oakland went 5-7 against what was graded as the eighth-most difficult schedule in Division I, including a win at then No. 7-ranked Tennessee and a one-point loss to Michigan State."
But as proud as I am of the fact that no team in Summit/Mid-Con history has ever had as dominant a stretch as the one the Grizzlies now have going, I think Oakland fans should be careful about buying into the idea that we've somehow "transcended the Summit."

I agree, Germane. The last three years have been great, but I'm not ready to throw out ORU's run there and continued relevance. Also, this game checks in as The Mid Majority's game of the night: www.midmajority.com/p/1874I won't mention our G!O!T!N! record thus far this year.

both the ArgusLeader and the SDSU Collegian (SDSU student newspaper) will be live blogging from tonight's game. These are two other ways to follow tonight's action for free. www.argusleader.com/article/99999999/SPORTS0202/91221041www.sdsucollegian.com/sports/men-s-bb-vs-oaklandYou may need to sign up for a free account to post, but you should be able to interact with T. Vandervec and the SDSU student blogger during the game. It's a good way to get a sense of what's happening better than a livetracker if not listening to the game via radio station. Video feed should be provided via Griz edition of GoJacks.com for subscribers. SDSU announcer is a reasonably good call on the game, works hard to pronounce names, and has good color guy (who's the women's main announcer). If want to banter about the game (no smack) here's the SDSUfans thread. www.sdsufans.com/board/showthread.php?p=169951#post169951Should be a good game between the two best offensive teams in the Summit.

Good to see Benson active early in this one. Jacks stormed back to tie it 29-29, but good response to that run by Oakland, up 37-31.

Well, this game features two great offensive teams, and it certainly looked like that in the first half. The Jacks have hit a couple of very long two-point jump shots which are the worst shots in basketball, so if those don't fall then the lead might be a bit more. That said, they are hitting shots, Oakland is hitting shots.
Benson and Hudson have looked pretty dominant to me though. Difference right there.
