Here's an article from the News about JJ and his choice to come to Oakland: detnews.com/article/20100316/SPORTS0203/3160347/1133/SPORTS/Johnathon-Jones-loves-choice-moreI was just thinking about how truly great of a decision it was to come to OU. Maybe he's not on ESPN every night, but just take a look at all the places he got to play in his four years: Pittsburgh's Peterson Events Center Breslin Center (MSU) Cincinnati's Fifth Third Arena @ Arkansas UCLA's Pauley Pavilion Marquette (Bradley Center) Xavier's Cintas Center Chrysler Arena (UofM) Mac Court (Oregon) Carrier Dome (Syracuse) Carver-Hawyeke Arena (Iowa) @ K-State Kohl Center (Wiscy) Phog Allen (Kansas) @memphis plus many games at The Palace He got to play at four Big Ten schools, four Big East, a couple Big 12/Pac 10/SEC, and a few solid mid-majors along the way. I highly doubt Akron or Bowling Green's scheduling philosophy would have given a guy a chance to do that in a four-year span. We nag on Kampe sometimes for all of those tough schedules, but when you look at it, yeah we lost most if not all of those games, but if I was a player on a mid-major and had any interest in college basketball history, I know for sure I'd get stoked as hell to play games at some of those arenas (knowing that I would have a shot at a conference tourney title still a few months later). And now we can add NCAA Tournament to that list!

Great find blackandgold, I agree that if I was a mid-major player, I would want to play the type of schedule we play. As fans, we see it as the opposite at times, because we like to see W's at the end of the night.

According to this post from eurobasket.com, JJ has apparently signed with a team in Slovakia. Looks like he'll be teammates with Jaraun Burrows, who averaged 14ppg for IPFW a couple of years ago. The post also notes that JJ had workouts with the Pistons and Pacers: www.eurobasket.com/Slovakia/basketball.asp?NewsID=199337Big News in Komarno! - Aug 6, 2010 (by Tomas Kottra) This is Chris Warren and we are excited to announce that all four of these players from our agency are signed to play for MBK Rieker Komarno this season. Martins Berkis (199-F-85, agency: Warren Sports International), C.J. Jackson (206-F, agency: Warren Sports International), Johnathon Jones (183-G-88, agency: Warren Sports International) and Jaraun Burrows (203-F-85, agency: Warren Sports International, college: IPFW). Berkis has played for several championship teams in Europe already and Burrows returns to Komarno as he was third leading scorer in Slovakia last season. Jackson was powerful force for Hawaii-Pacific last season averaging close to 16 points per game and grabbing 12 rebounds per game. Jackson also worked out twice for Indiana Pacers this Summer. Jones, led the Nation in assists his Junior year of College and was 3rd in Nation last season. Johnathon worked out for Indiana Pacers three times this Summer and the Detroit Pistons. Komarno owner Christopher E. van der Stelt and I have been speaking for months about building a Championship team in Komarno and now all the players are in place for Komarno to be a major contender for the Slovakia League Title this year. Chris, the owner, runs the team with professionalism and is first class person. My players are very excited to be playing in Komarno and are flying out early next week to Slovakia.

Here is video of JJ hitting a three-pointer in a recent pre-season game for his team, Komarno.
According to the Slovakian basketball writer Tomáš Kottra, JJ had 28 points and 8 assists in that game, and then he had 20 points and 9 assists in a game "against one of the top Czech teams." These are all preseason matches, but cool to hear nonetheless.
Crazy to see him rocking number 10 in that video, though.

If you are interested in some general information on the teams of Johnathon Jones, Derick Nelson, and Dan Waterstradt for this coming international basketball season, check out the link below. Basically gathered up some info on all three players and where they will be at (most of this was known already). There is also a choice roster photo of JJ that looks like it's straight out of a European league as well as some video highlights of Stradt from last season (who had a good one it seems): grizzliesgameplan.blogspot.com/2010/09/keeping-tabs-on-johnathon-jones-derick.html
