I guess I thought what is now an 8 game win streak at home would count as winning. Couldn't have said it better myself. This is the best we have seen a Grizz team play in 2 or 3 seasons

I guess I thought what is now an 8 game win streak at home would count as winning. Couldn't have said it better myself. This is the best we have seen a Grizz team play in 2 or 3 seasons Good points. The last time we started league play going 5-0 at home was the 2010-11 season (admittedly, in the Summit), when we went undefeated in home league games and 17-1 overall. Last year we went 4-4 in Horizon play at home during the regular season, then beat YSU at home in OT in the opening round of the conference tourney (with the famous inbounds play). There's been a lot of good basketball played at the O'Rena over the years, but this season deserves much more student support. The last game against Wright State seemed to be a step in the right direction.

and with any luck more and more people keep showing up. fans are a fickled bunch but the trend of the last few years hasn't kept the fans so it's starting over trying to draw them back in. The older fans on this board remember what teams have been of the past. As others have said above many of the new students haven't seen a real winning team.

Thanks for sharing. He was just at the Wright State game (I could tell from one of the photos), and I noticed some updates from the previous review, including the placement of the band and student section, and his comments on The Grizz. After seeing his photo of the retired jersey banners, I realized that I saw him taking photos before the game Wednesday. I wondered at the time why someone was taking photos of seemingly random things like the concession stand in the SE corner, and it makes sense now. The link in oudrummer's post above was broken because of the apostrophe in the URL, so hopefully this link works... Link: Stadium Journey O'rena Review

On the subject of winning, it always seems the first question casual basketball fans or sports fan ask me when I talk about Oakland is "What's their record?". Family, friends, co-workers...it is always the same question. My anecdotal experience is that casual people judge a team by the record. With Oakland the answer is usually not a simple, "Oh they're off to a great start they're 10-3" but rather something more like, "They're 4-10 but..." I'm not complaining as I am a supporter of the historic tough schedule approach (I only ever look at the conference record anyway), but merely pointing out that casual people may not be jumping at a chance to see a team with a losing record, even if there is a "but" to the losing record.
As with any statistics, I think you have to put our attendance figures in context. Detroit and Valpo fans were both bemoaning their small crowds on Monday night as we were. Attendance is down across the board.

Tremendous job by the Grizz Gang today. I think this Tweet from Coach Kampe sums up how great their support was today:
