Too many mistakes in the final minutes. Let's hope for a Green Bay win over Valpo on Friday ...

Hell of an effort by the guys today. First 10 minutes I thought they were going to get run out the gym but they refused to fold and fought tooth and nail with the Valpoites. Needless to say I do think Valpo is beatable home or away and I look forward to future battles with them. We just seem to match up well with them.
I agree here's hoping Green Bay can knock off Valpo Friday night to give us a chance to get back into it. We still have some work to do starting with Milwaukee first. CANNOT have a letdown game after a game like this.

Too many mistakes in the final minutes. Let's hope for a Green Bay win over Valpo on Friday ... disagree. We basically need all the top teams to hold serve at home and we try to steal the last Horizon game against GB. That would create a scenario where CSU ends 13-3, Valpo ends 13-3, and we go into the last game 12-3 playing a 12-3 GB team. Win that road game and we host the Horizon league tourney. Normally I'd be hopeful for other upsets, but the top 4 teams in standing appear to be playing at a far higher level than the bottom 5. If we lose, the tie-breaker scenarios become absolutely insane and would likely come down to the team with the higher RPI hosting the conference tournament. T-1 GB,Valpo, CSU 13-3 4 Oakland 12-4 CB Valpo CSU all split in the regular season, so we go to the next tie breaker. All 3 teams split with oakland, so we go to the next tie breaker. All 3 teams were 2-0 against the rest of the league, so we go to the final tie breaker. Green Bay would finish with the highest RPI and host the tournament.

Arsenal, you are correct. I didn't realize that. As a valpo fan, that scares me. I just wanted to say that was a good game and I think Oakland will have back to back Freshman of the Year players (K. Felder and Hayes). I hate to say it, I think K. Felder is POY too. Anyhow, all the jabs on the blogs aside, good game and I hope not see Oakland again this year!

Mistakes and missed FT's aside, this was a good effort and we lost to a very good team. Just couldn't get over the hump down the stretch. Coaches have talked about Jalen Hayes' ability to hit the 3 in practice, and it was great to see it in game time.

Enjoyed my second visit to the ARC on Sunday. It's a terrific mid-major basketball atmosphere — all that's good about hoops in Indiana.
Knowledgable Valpo fans came early, wearing their brown and gold, and they filled the lower bowl. The adults and students stood for the opening tip and didn't sit until the Crusaders scored. The crowd appeared to skew a little bit older than Oakland's fan base. I saw a lot of people who appeared to be my contemporaries — in their 60s. I guess that shouldn't be surprising considering the school's basketball tradition.
Legendary coach Homer Drew sat in the stands, opposite the Crusaders bench.
I wore my Oakland gear prominently, and everybody was friendly and welcoming. The food was good and inexpensive. I paid $3.50 for an surprisingly enjoyable pulled-chicken sandwich. There was adequate free parking close to the field house.
Just wish our guys had made more plays in crunch time. Valpo did. And the fans responded loudly.
