It’s not his fault. He’s been asked to do so much that he’s not cut out for.
For him to finally have a VERY good game is great, but let’s not forget we’ve had 5 years of him to get that one great game. In that time we’ve been told he’s a shooter. Hes a career 32% 3 point shooter having shot 670 3s. That is so many shots to have only made 215 over 5 years. That’s not “a shooter.”
This year he’s been asked to be a point guard at times. What a mistake. He is not skilled enough dribbling and has not shown he can deliver passes into the paint at a place where the bigs need it. Are those losses his fault? No. It’s coaching for putting him in that position just like calling him a shooter.
I’m glad he got hot for a game and showed he can shoot. When he isn’t on though, they have to stop forcing it and trying to make fetch happen.
The one thing he does though and I would give him all the credit in the world for is hustle. He works HARD at all times. I’ve never seen him take a play off. I don’t think he knows how. He’s a SMART kid and going to be successful. It won’t be shooting the basketball though.

For reference:
Max Hooper made 202 3s in his two years at Oakland on 42% Travis Bader made his 504 on 40% from 3 Erik Kangas made 348 with 40% from 3
Those are shooters.
If you’re old enough to remember Brandon Cassise he was a solid player for Oakland. Was not considered “a shooter” though but hitting 3s was part of his game. Nothing special but a solid player.
161 3s made on 33% from three. Lampman is more Cassise than Bader. And that’s not a bad place to be. But when you’re sold one thing and get another it’s easy to not love.

I mean, I literally just said he is better at most things not related to 3 point shooting than people give him credit for, then you go on and on about how he isn't a great 3 point shooter. Anyone who thinks he is a great 3 point shooter is delusional. He is an ok 3 point shooter who has the ability to get hot every once in a while.
I think he is much more athletic than people give him credit for. Solid defender, passer, and is a good leader with floor intelligence. He is a glue guy.
I don't think Kampe is deadset on trying to make him a star, I think he is deadset on having him on the floor as a leader on a team that has talent, but hasnt played much together with the transfer portal.

I know you said that.
However, he’s been shoved down Oakland fans throats as a shooter for 5 years.
We agree, he’s not.

Wow, just went back and read this, we were 1-2 in league play at the time. I get the disappointment, we all were disappointed, but wow

Hi, if we’re bringing this stuff up, can we have a real discussion about some of the things I said here? Are Oakland fans ready for that?

Blake was really hurt at the end of the season I think. He was pretty bad shooting late in the year. I don't remember the game, but his "breakout" game he was hitting 3s and driving to the rack for layups. I wish we had that blake in the tournament.
