What was his surgery on? I missed any news of it. I think it was his knee. Said he couldn't exercise because of it or something along those lines. He mentioned it for a minute on one of his last radio shows of the season. I hope nate's inference is correct that they have found a recruit or two.

In a question that will show how many science classes I took at Oakland, does that mean he got both of his knees replaced?! Or is double-knee replacement some technical term for replacing two parts of a knee? I'm guessing the former, in which case that sounds brutal. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Coach.

So it's been eerily quiet on the recruiting and signing front. Major cause of concern in Golden Grizzlies Country?

Could be good news, could be bad news, depending on your views of the player, but Southern Utah's Matt Hodgson is transferring to St. Mary's. He chose SMC over Oakland, believe it or not. From the SUUNews: www.suunews.com/news/2011/may/15/suu-center-transfer-st-marys/Hodgson is a seven-footer from Australia who was never given much of a chance to flourish while at SUU. He blocked a lot of shots, and his body type is a rarity to find. He fits with SMC in that the school has an Aussia pipeline. But he wouldn't have helped Oakland in the near-term due to the transfer rule, though having an experienced seven-footer for 2012-13 and 2013-14 would have been nice ---- and he'd never have the "Reggie" situation since SUU leaves the Summit after this year. Still, I'm hopeful the staff can get some other frontcourt help while continuing to develop Sikora and Petros. I'm also not completely sad we didn't get Hodgson because the intra-league transfers give me an icky feeling personally.

Well almost a month without any talks be that filling out the 2011 roster, or looking ahead to 2012. Is this a bad sign?

I don't think so. We do have 2 recruits coming in this year so unless we get that high major guy or perfect fit, I think it is best to save the scholarships for a potential transfer or quality 4 year players that have time to develop as part of a system. We had 4 players sit out last year that will be playing so I don't believe we are in trouble for any positions this season. Obviously, as Kampe stated, we need a PG next year. Looking forward to Ryan Bass this year.

New signing for OU... big man out of Kosovo. I'm intrigued and remain optimistic that he won't turn out like how Ilija was his first few years here.... sounds like he has a great outside game but we need someone with an inside presence to fill the voids. Hopefully he pans out www.ougrizzlies.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/062011aab.html

Here's some footage of the guy:
He originally signed with a DII school in Pennsylvania in early May.

Wow good find on the video, I can already tell he's probably twice as fast as Ilija was! He looks really quick and agile for a 6' 10" guy but he does need some weight. He looks promising, I'm excited!
