I was checking out the standings of other conferences tonight and was surprised to see that Central Michigan is tied for first in the MAC. The Chips have won 20 games already this season and are currently higher in the MAC standings than WMU and EMU -- two teams that beat Oakland early this season and looked like they could be contenders in their own league. CMU has been down for a number of years, but it looks like third-year coach Keno Davis has them on the right track.
It's interesting to look at CMU's traits this year as they are an offensive juggernaut. Davis has coached some strong offenses in his time, notably his Drake team that got a 5 seed a few years back, and it looks like he is modeling CMU after that successful year with Drake. The Chips take almost 50% of their shots from 3-point range and make a bunch of them and take great care of the ball. They're young too -- every major contributor will be back for them next year.
I wonder if they'll be open to playing Oakland now that they could be competitive?

I never really understood why we never seemed to play them, especially when we played the other directional schools quite frequently. While I'm all about the in state non conference games, I wonder why we never played them, and hope a match up with them doesn't start only because they are "good" now
