I don't buy the facilities argument. Oral Roberts, Southern Utah and both Dakota schools had better facilities than us when we won Summit league titles. This is about a coach who has refused to adapt. It's not a coincidence that in the first 2 full years of the transfer portal that Oakland is in the top 10 teams in all of D1 for losing players. There is no excuse to have this thin of a bench in this environment. This team has now gone 11 years in a bad conference without going to the Tournament and there has been only one constant....Coach Kampe

Folks…this is more than just the basketball program. We have had so much turnover within the athletics department, great people leaving, and the university continues to not make any changes.
Jeff Konya was probably one of the most approachable, visible ADs We have ever had. He brought excellent game day experiences, and I believe he was going to get a big corporate sponser in, but the admin axed that. Soon after that he left. Scott MacDonald was a fantastic assistant to Konya that was the ultimate OU hype man, and he left, first To the USPBL and now he is back with Konya. There is a huge list of great behind the scenes talent that has left in recent years. It’s like they don’t care.
They don’t invest in retaining talent…they don’t invest in the student athlete, and it’s starting to show.
Dare I say we are the Oakland As of the Horizon League

Would love to retain Townsend, Parrish and price so we will see, but it’s how all teams are going to be now especially with college basketball, let’s see if we can bring in some better transfers than we lose this year.

I think the only ones for sure returning are Townsend ( family legacy) and Lampman.

Facilities, Kampe, the administration, Moore potentially leaving, on and on - what a mess. An ongoing trend with plenty of culprits. Maybe Oakland needs to fall to the bottom dredges of the HL before serious change can take place at each level. Why is Oakland so successful in virtually every other sport, but the flagship program is in disarray?
The reality is that schools competing at a D1 level need to make D1 athletic investments. Maybe this should not be the case in a perfect world, but Oakland is competing with other schools for students and exposure. If not prepared for this reality, don’t become a D1 school athletically.

I think the only ones for sure returning are Townsend ( family legacy) and Lampman. I’m not so sure, nothing will surprised me though. Parrish leaving would be pretty devastating, but for most of the rest of the team leaving it’s not a guarantee that they even find a place on a D1 roster if they leave. Especially with the extra Covid year for players still lingering a couple more years and taking up roster spots.

Funny, listening to Michigan fans after they blew their lead and lost against Indians. They were upset that Howard. They said the reason they lost was because Howard kept his starters in too long and were tired. I thought, welcome to Oakland basketball
