scroll through Write States message board. It sounds like ours, Nagy doesn't play enough players. we lose because Nagy doesn't develop a bench. Why doesn't Manns play Potter and the Smith are staring at Morehead State and Chattanooga because Nagy wouldn't play them at Wright State. Wright played Calvi-Holden-Finke-and the big guy the same amount of minutes as our big 4 and then played 3 very poor freshman and sophomores on and off with them. The same as we did. It's mid major basketball Cleveland State did it. Played a lot of guys, NKU didn't Fort Wayne Didn't. I use to bitch all the time but I listen to Kampe's radio show ad he explains that his great teams had 8 players. I would like to see more to but I just don't know

I think one injury see Zion Young had a lot to do with our 6 guys. He played Conway 5 minutes a game and said on his radio show he had to get him 200 minutes and the only way to do that was to start him. be interesting to see what the rotation is next year because we can't use youth as an excuse anymore

Well, with all the blown leads, I assume it was minutes played. It would be interesting to see how Oakland compares to other teams. If not minutes played, maybe a lack of timeouts used to give them a break. I know coach hates using them. Should've used one when Wright state went on a 20-0 run. Speaking of which, during his press conference, coach was unaware that it was a 20-0 run. Shouldn't a coach be aware of that?

Calling a timeout wouldn't have hurt us for sure. Nagy has won multiple championships in the Horizon, so things are working for him. It seems natural that some will be unhappy with their playing time. What we're doing has not fully worked all the years we've been in the Horizon.

Interesting insights regarding WSU’s message board. Probably some similar comments on NKU’s board. Regardless how deep either of these teams have been the past 5+ years, they have combined for multiple championships and NCAA tournaments. Oakland is a different story. Very sad for fans of the university.
Either fundamental changes in philosophy and execution are adopted, or Oakland remains a mid-tier HL team with a great game day atmosphere. Big deal….

So glad I was wrong…and if Micah comes back too…look out!
Kampe has a great opportunity to add some depth with those extra roster spots.
Feeling way more optimistic than I did when I started this thread

For what it’s worth, when Kampe was on Fox 2 on Selection Sunday he said he would have everyone back and mentioned Jalen may need surgery on his wrist. While Kampe didn’t mean literally everyone being back, that means he expects the key pieces to be back.
Obviously that can change as it did when Cumberland and Norris drove back to back stakes through the program’s back in late spring a few years ago. Or when Oladapo was assumed to be back and then announced he was exploring his options.
I’m encouraged by his comments and the retention thus far. With the deeper bench guys who stay I am hopeful to see further development. It has been a pleasure to observe Blake Lampman’s progress here through three years, reminds me of the glory days of four or five year players.
But to take a next step, in my opinion this team needs a rim protector, especially if the zone is to be the base defense again. They don’t grow on trees, as OU’s only had 2 in the last 14 years, one being a string bean project who turned into a NBA draft pick and the other being an Army vet that Kampe discovered in Kuwait. So yeah, it’s hard to get a rim protector. But hoping Kampe and co can work their magic again. Watching Saint Peters beat Kentucky just now with a rim protector and a shooter running off screens and draining threes brought back good memories of the 2009-11 teams.
