Obviously the score was terrible, but I don't think there aren't any good signs to take from the game. 1) I thought Trey played very well against someone he should rarely have to guard or go up against offensively. Cisse is a monster of a human being and Trey went right at him and also played pretty solid defense. 2) Hervey looks athletic and if he can stay locked in to getting boards, that can go a long way to helping this undersized team. 3) Blake still manages to surprise me with better than expected athleticism. 4) Chris Conway, while shooting 1-5 looks waaaaay better to the eye test than he did last year. Is he currently a "good" player, probably not, but he no longer looks robotic in his motions and doesn't seem to be hesitating/slowly processing what to do. Hopefully he can keep progressing. 5) Lorne looked looked very good in his short minutes. I think we have some athletic guard that can penetrate and kick out for open 3's, but OK st. is super big inside and were just collapsing because we shot abysmally from the 3. I think Kampe mentioned switching back to man to man, and I hope that happens sooner than later. I think this team is athletic enough to defend and not use a zone. Agree, especially regarding Trey. Proud of that young man in holding his own against Cisse. Want to see him continue to be more aggressive in the paint. He has the physical tools to do it.

It's sad and frustrating to see how many fans are now comfortable & accustomed to mediocrity. Losing at home to MAC bottom feeders and getting our doors blown off at home by a good but not great Power 5 team is now acceptable. Never winning the Horizon tournament is now the norm. There is no end in sight because the University isn't serious about basketball. This is identical to the last 3 years of Mark Dantonio at Michigan St except were in year 10.

Sorry for not taking pitchforks and torches to Kampe's office after the game. Just because no one is going off on unhinged rants, doesn't mean we are happy about the start.... Hows the Kampe is a snake oil salesman and Cain wont make it to the NBA comment aging?

Hows the Kampe is a snake oil salesman and Cain wont make it to the NBA comment aging? You serious? Cain has played in one game and is probably headed back to the G league. Micah Parrish is averaging 7pts a game at San Diego state. This is what you watch the team for?....one year transfers that never won anything but got an NBA contract? My snake oil salesman comment is accurate. Pescovitz will never fire him. No decent AD will never work at Oakland because Kampe is the defacto AD and is insulated. He's accountable to no one. This team has been playing in one of the bottom 5 conferences now for almost a decade and hasnt sniffed the tournament. It's pretty pathetic that as little as I've posted here, I triggered you to search my few posts from last year. I'm flattered. In the meantime, enjoy Greg eating at Portillos, his restaurant recommendations and whatever else turns you on about this program. Forgive me for being pissed off but I expect more from a school that's located in one of the 15 best high school basketball states.

We're three games in to a season where anyone who follows basketball should've expected a rough start. Our roster has been shaken up quite a bit. Yeah, it's only the difference of two significant players, but Hervey and Watts are a very different look from Cain and Parrish. Add in Jalen's injury and I can't believe anybody's already whining about a season that's barely started.

Every team has to deal with transfers in and out every season now. It is not something unique to Oakland.
There is every reason at this point to think this will be another sub-par season. Even with Cain and Parrish they were only able to finish 5th in Horizon.

Playing only 6 or 7 players last season didn't help which is a big reason why the finished the way they did even with Cain and Parrish. I understand that folks are unhappy with how this season is starting out but two games in I think it's a bit premature to write the season off as a bust. Rotations are still being figured out.

As indicated previously on this board, the challenge for Kampe is getting talented, but disparate players to mesh in his system. Out of the gate, it has been disappointing. While not doomed to 5th place, the lack of performance in prior seasons will inevitably influence how this team is judged. Not unfair to expect a higher standard this year.

All I will say is if you go back and read your quote "Does anyone really believe Cain will sniff the NBA" that you kind of owe the kid an apology, and when Kampe said he's an NBA player I guess he knows players maybe a tad bit better than you. Please don't give us he's only played one game. He's getting paid just under 7 figures, he's dressing and warming up, he's on one of the top teams in the league, so really you were way off. Seems a true Oakland fan would be really proud of the kid. Also, we are coming off a 20 win season where we lost 6 of last 10 and then found out Moore played with torn leigments in his shooting hand the last 10games. Hardly seems like a mediocre season to me.
