Well, certainly not surprising. Wish him the best. I was a bit surprised about Matt Crenshaw at IUPUI being let go.

Ever since his son left, he's looked like a terrible coach. He clearly must just be heartbroken missing the kid. It's sad really.

Saddi Washington’s name has been floated for this opening. Considering Tony Paul once reported that Saddi “turned down” the WMU job, I am not sure Saddi would have gone for the UDM gig in the past (based on WMU being in the MAC which is generally rated higher than the Horizon League), but considering U of M just fired Juwan Howard, I am sure his status is up in the air right now. While it would be tough to see Saddi patrolling the sidelines for UDM, I am hopeful he lands on his feet in this cycle even down I-75.
I believe Saddi was interviewed by U of M when Beilein left for the NBA, so maybe he will get another shot at the head job at U of M, but it does seem like the names being tossed around there are all sitting head coaches.
Another option to watch is Alabama’s assistant Austin Claunch just got hired by UTSA. That could provide an opening for former Romulus High School coaches Nate Oats and Saddi Washington to reunite down south. It was rumored U of M was going after Nate Oats and not one day later Alabama announced a contract extension that will make Oats a top-five paid head coach in college basketball. I am sure he’ll have a nice war chest for his staff too. And last season, all three of his assistants got head coaching jobs! Nate Oats, high school math teacher and coach 10 years ago, now top five highest paid coach and developing a coaching tree in D-I basketball.

I'm sure he'll be coveted over the next few weeks or so.

Saddi to UDM would be a slap in the face to WMU and OU.
Eh, not a slap in the face, but it would make me sick.
