I just thought a thread to keep info going around the league throughout the season. Southern Utah was the only Summit league team to lose an exhibition game, and it was against Mesa State. Centenary was not in action. Regular season games start tonight and I'm curious to see how teams fair.

Looking at this weekend's match-ups, it would be nice for the Summit to escape with a few victories. Oral Roberts traveling to Wake Forest will be a tough one, and Arizona State is hosting Western Illinois. I feel bad for Centenary as their first game of the season is against the always well rounded Marquette. It could be a showdown out west as Wyoming hosts South Dakota State. Tomorrow we host the Eagles of EMU and IUPUI travels to Drake, which could be interesting. I would love to see the Summit League RPI boosted in anyway possible. We are the only Summit League team hosting a game this weekend besides UMKC hosting Division 2 Truman State. Western Illinois finishes a tough weekend on Sunday at Kansas State. IPFW sees it's first action of the season at Wisconsin on the Big Ten Network. I looked and our game against Wisconsin is on Big Ten Network's website.

Major props to SDSU for winning their first game of the year, a road game, against Wyoming! Also Centenary didn't get blown out the water against Marquette. I knew Chase Adams had left but didn't realize just how many people they lost. They return just four players from last year. I was bummed not to see Gary Redus on their roster, the student section will surely remember him from last year. Redus is now playing for South Alabama (not sure if he got the redshirt waiver like Adams, I would assume) with NONE OTHER THAN TIM WILLIAMS! Weird how Williams' bio makes no mention of his time at Oakland: www.usajaguars.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=38473&SPID=3258&DB_OEM_ID=8300&ATCLID=204794119&Q_SEASON=2009

Good job to IUPUI for knocking off a solid Missouri Valley team in Drake today (on Drake's home floor) 88-82. Was watching some of the game on channelsurfing.net. The Jags look good and will be very difficult to beat in our meetings with them this season.

I agree. Very Impressive win for IUPUI. Indeed they will be very tough to beat.

They essentially only played 6 guys the whole game, and ONLY 4 of them scored all their team points. And only one guy more even took a shot (a single shot). It's just one game, but it would appear on paper that they've got serious depth problems. Sure Robert Glenn went off for 37 on 15-17 shooting and Alex Young and Leroy Nobles helped him out a ton, but this box score raises some serious questions. Shut down Glenn and Young and they're done.

Yikes, didn't realize that . Never mind about shutting them down THEY had better hope no injuries arise or Hunter will have a difficult season on his hands.

Lost this in the conference action the other day, but NDSU went down to Great West member Utah Valley on the road. The most interesting piece from the box score was senior guard Josh Vaughan's line: 27 points on 55% FG percentage, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. I am assuming he is Woodside's replacement (if only for this year) and put up some Woodside-esque numbers.

Very nice wins by SDSU and IUPUI. Ron Hunter's squad concerns me this year. They've had the luxury of flying under the radar in most of the preseason predictions, and Hunter will probably use the "chip on the shoulder" approach as motivation for most of the season. Glenn, Young, and Nobles have a ton of talent. And even though Avery and Pettiford didn't do much against Drake (5 points and 0 points, respectively), they are solid players and the Jags should have much more balanced scoring than they did last night.

Wisconsin controlled the whole game against IPFW, not surprising to me since they don't have an array of talent. Looking forward to Wednesday's game and hopefully we shoot better.
