For those interested, a thread about Oakland and the Horizon League on a Wright State message board, which I found on the Detroit message board. lol. raiderroundball.yuku.com/topic/2476/Add-Oakland-University-as-11th-member-of-HLAlways a pleasure to read our program getting crapped on. Wait until you get to the second page and read a few opinions on IUPUI. (With that said, there are a few posters there who like the idea quite a bit if expansion ever were to occur). All the more reason why we or another SL program needs to breakthrough in the tourney.

I kind of figured that all mid-major fans were a little more educated than the average college ball crowd. There is one clown over there that sounds like a typical uninformed UDM poster. His only argument for not liking Oakland is that the Summit is a weak conference and our OOC win/loss is not great. Totally ignored who we played and the way we have dominated. The funny thing is they barely beat us earlier this year: most would argue we gave the game away.
The others seem to deal with facts and make reasoned arguments either way. I would think in most sports we match up well with the Horizon. I think we would be competitive in the league immediately but I would rather stay in the Summit for a while and continue to improve facilities/programs and be the benchmark. I am more in favor of this now that the travel footprint is shrinking a bit.
On another note, did you see how many teams the Colonial Athletic League has in the mid-major top 25? That looks like a real solid conference this year.
