John Keating suggests a New Year's resolution for Greg Kampe: get Oakland into the Horizon League. If only it was that simple. Also kind of bugs me when people assume that Summit teams like IUPUI and IPFW must be lousy just because of their names. www.foxsportsdetroit.com/12/29/10/Keatings-Corner-Fewer-Nicholson-scowls-i/landing.html?blockID=381369&feedID=3701To Greg Kampe: Your Oakland University Golden Grizzlies have become a very nice story. You will take your team to play anyone, anywhere. How about resolving to join the Horizon League, where a sensational local rivalry could develop with Detroit Mercy? You'd also bump up against Butler and Valpo regularly, instead of the likes of IUPUI and IPFW. (Note to Vanna White. All the vowels are hidden in the Summit League.)

With Perry Watson gone, does that change the acrimonious relationship that you guys have had with UDM, or does it not matter all that match?
Just curious if there's any thawing in the past couple of years, or would UDM still say, "over our dead bodies" to inviting Oakland to the Horizon.

How about resolving to join the Horizon League lol at this statement by Keating. While I'm happy to see the coverage, as Germane says, it's not as easy as saying, "Hey, let's join!" 'Tis what happens when guys who don't really cover college basketball chime in on a subject as complex as conference alignment. I like our chances in the Summit League year in and year out right now. And I like the way the league is getting better, especially after Cent/SUU leave.

The Horizon requires a minimum 5,000 seat arena for membership. Would Oakland be willing to build a new arena?

whats the orenas seating capacity?
i think if we continue to grow our program & get recruits the way we have been, that we would build a new arena.

whats the orenas seating capacity? Officially, it is 3,000. But we all know that there have been games far above that. Biggest crowd ever was over 4,000.

A few years ago, it stated the capacity as 4,000. Then all of a sudden its 3,000? We had plenty of games last year with crowds over 3,000 and it wasn't a sell out.
