Great article. Thanks for linking to that, nate. I must say reading about his growth spurt after playing guards reminds me a lot of the story of Gordon Hayward of Butler last season. Hayward was the same way and eventually had the spurt where he could do just about everything on the court. And his size and versatile ability helped make him a lottery pick.
The difference is I don't think Hayward was on many big schools' radar so Butler was able to nab him. Gotta wonder if the mids will have a shot at him, especially if his dad's alma mater is in play.

I hope our recruiting of him and being close to home can trump the lower end high majors.... I think our basketball is getting to the level of the lower high majors, but it is hard to pass up a northwestern or UofM education if they are footing the bill.

After listening to Tim McCormick on the Greg Kampe Show yesterday, I think the Oakland will be on Kellen's radar. Tim mentioned how he thinks there is a huge advantage for players, who come out of high school and play right away. He said he thinks that attributes some success to mid-major programs and how the playing field is being leveled. More than likely Kellen wouldn't go to a BCS school and have major playing time right away, though I could be wrong. In a mid-major situation, like Oakland, Kellen would probably see major playing time given his height and his versatility.

As I said on the Greg Kampe show this week, I've seen McCormick play. He drilled three 3-pointers in the game I saw if I recall correctly.

Ouch. Not good for OU. I think missing out on him is a big loss in a lot of areas including future recruiting.

Wow! So now since Oakland's NCAA tournament appearance, top targets have chosen Detroit, Pennsylvania, and Western Michigan over the Golden Grizzlies. And OU was a "finalist" for each of those players.
Tough to swallow. What's going on?

Coach better get a rap on his recruiting because that stings.
