Oakland might be the first school to ever do a coach's update featuring a coach and a professor. Actually, this is a great idea. Coach Francis is joined by Professor Dulio, who is Chair of the Department of Political Science. Prof. Dulio is joining the team on its trip to D.C. to provide some insight on the nation's capital. Love the academic integration. www.ougrizzlies.com/allaccess/?media=281589And here's an update from D.C. www.ougrizzlies.com/allaccess/?media=281589

Sharise Calhoun nailed a half-court buzzer beater yesterday, and the ESPN show Sports Nation featured it today. You can see their coverage of it in this video: yfrog.com/2oqntz

Saw that three players are leaving the team. (Lauren Robak, who redshirted; Jenna Bachrouche, who saw limited PT; and Malika Glover, who started 11 games and logged significant minutes).

Also long-time assistant coach and former player Katie Trolla (Wolfe) is leaving to focus on her family. Tough loss for the program.

Wheels are starting to fall off for Beckie. I don't follow women's close enough to know what the expectations are for the program, but I have always wondered if things got so bad on the court (no one questions how great of students/ambassadors the women's team is off the court) how the school would approach making a coaching change. Again, I'm not calling for anyone's head here or anything, but merely wondering how it would work out. From an administration standpoint there would certainly be some awkwardness involved in such a decision. I guess that is one more reason to ensure that the program is meeting on-court expectations so such a path would never need to be ventured down.

I agree that it would be an awkward situation, but it is a business. Personally, I don't like the perception that Coach Francis gives off in post game pressers. I think the team underperforms for the talent that is presented. It makes you think when 3 young players leave the team. A few years ago Kristin Turner transferred after her freshman year and was playing fairly well for the University of Indianapolis. I realize she was originally from Indiana and could have went to play closer to home. Who knows the real reason why Katie Trolla left? It could be anything. Just something to ponder.

I don't know anything abt women's bball anymore, but a player transferring down to D2? Indy is equivalent to transferring to one of the GLIAC schools and doing well. IMO

I don't follow women's basketball much at all, but I know two different people who do go to all of OU's games and they constantly are complaining about OU being "out coached". They've said that she is more of a motivator than a head coach, more of a role of an assistant coach. When the other team goes on a 8-0 run she brings them in and does little to correct what is actually happening. Hope things start moving upward because we actually did have a few really good years a few years ago
