After watching Kentucky plow through the brackets on their way to a National Championship with relative ease, I think the NCAA really needs to go back and reverse their one-and-done rule.
Forcing players to play one year in college is just feeding into the slime ball coaches like Calipari who love picking up glorified NBA players to play for a year on his team. Imagine how mediocre Kentucky would be if they weren't able to recruit one-and-done players!
Imagine how easy it is for Calipari to pick up the best players in the nation with this sales pitch:
"Since you're an NBA caliber player who can't quite go yet, why don't you play for me for a year, we'll win 30+ games, probably win a national championship, you'll get to be the most loved guy on campus and classes really won't matter since you're going to the League next year. It'll be fun!"
I'll admit I haven't researched this at all but I don't understand why the NCAA feels they need to force kids to go to college, is it all just about money??! If I was a gifted at business and I decided I wanted to start my business right out of high school instead of going to college, who's there to stop me? If I find out that I'm not successful and I fail and lose all of my money, who cares? Why are we so worried about kids who're good at sports messing up their lives? I'm convinced that it's got to be about the NCAA getting the best possible players on the court and making money off them, at least for a year.
To me I could care less if someone who is great at sports goes right to the pros or not; if they have the talent let them be a pro. These pro-caliber kids who play for 1 or 2 years in college really aren't getting anything out of their education anyways, so why bother. If they go pro and break their leg, ending their career, do they really have that one year of college to fall back on?
