More good news for the Summit League as the league announced today that Midco Sports Net will be producing a number of games this season with Fox College Sports airing them nationally. The full release: www.thesummitleague.org/sports/mbkb/2012-13/releases/20120816z65i7vThe release says that all 9 teams will be featured through the broadcasts, but the cynical person might look at it as NDSU gets 2 games and SDSU gets 3 games, not counting the additional women's game. I like Midco SN and think they do a great job with the quarters and semis of the tournament. But this announcement is one in a string that continues to place the emphasis on the Dakotas --- and rightfully so. But Oakland has to continue to do what it can to be attractive to a Horizon-like conference.

'The release says that all 9 teams will be featured through the broadcasts, but the cynical person might look at it as NDSU gets 2 games and SDSU gets 3 games, not counting the additional women's game.' My thoughts exactly. I mean I'm a summit league fan & I don't wanna see half these games. I guess I'm not happy that we only get 1 game. But the Dakotas hold alot of power & as flagship state schools they should. I like TSL, but this is upsetting. On the other hand most people have probably never even heard of half of our schools nationally anyway, so some publicity is good.

First night of Summit play, which means the debut of the Summit games being on TV. Gotta say it is pretty cool to be able to turn on Fox Sports Atlantic and seeing two Summit League schools. Obviously wish it wasn't so Dakota-heavy, but still better than nothing.

While some are whining about the presence of the Dakota schools on the TV package, I remember when I was happy to watch the Oakland/SDSU game on the Detroit feed on Fox. Oakland has been doing fairly well compared to the rest of the pack in TSL. When you might think you are in the shadow of another program, there is yearning of the Horizon. Coach Kampe will continue to lead your program forward with the patience most do not have. Meanwhile enjoy that you are not diving out of a conference like Denver U is now experiencing. Oh by the way, that is a long nonstop trip into a world class airport for that game against a team that will give the conference a bump up in the world of power ratings that Southern Utah may not have provided on annual basis in addition to a long bus ride. My biggest problem is that some of the televised games for SDSU are home games that I will see in person. I would like to have our road games on the programlike last year's OU game. we all have some whining I guess.

By the way I enjoyed the MSU-OU game over the holidays. That was more than a regional game I was watching from Texas.

I believe Denver has a TV deal with ROOT Sports so that should mean additional TV games next year.
