Haven't been on much in the off-season, hope everyone's been good!
Still young in the season, but hope everyone gives a little attention to the women's hoops team this year. I think it could be a special season.
Been some transfers, Carnago and Calhoun have graduated, and Minifee (and perhaps most importantly) Watterworth are on the sidelines right now with injury. Still, this team looks really good.
Coach Francis will concede that last year's team lacked outside shooters. Sometimes, when Watterworth was able to get inside and was carrying the team, defenses would go zone or double up on her. Just can't imagine that if they show the ability to shoot from outside that they'll be able to do this. If Victoria Lipscomb can also be consistent with a mid-range game, scoring shouldn't be a problem. Beth's return will also give them another good-sized defender.
Oral Roberts departing might be helpful in allowing Oakland a look at getting a first-round bye in Sioux Falls. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that they can challenge for one of those spots.
