Incredibly excited to see that the Board of Trustees today approved a new housing proposal that will add 500+ beds to the campus by Fall 2014. This is huge, huge, huge for OU's continued growth. oaklandpostonline.com/2012/12/03/campus/29-9-millionhousing-proposal-passes-at-bot-meeting/This will have a major impact on attendance at basketball games and hopefully other sporting events. The more on-campus students, the better the attendance, in my opinion. I can't wait to see the impact.

As a one time on-campus student, this is great news! I'm really surprised by the speedy timeline, that means they need to break ground on this ASAP.
I do have a few concerns though: - the location is stupid. They are once again placing a building in a parking lot and taking away the basketball court outside the dorms. Parking!?? - they are going to spend $30 million to make this building ultra efficient and green but they have the dumpy old dorms like Hamlin and Hill house that probably are as inefficient as possible. They should throw a couple million towards the older dorms to upgrade them a bit - while they are trying to be conservative, that 500 bed capacity will be filled in the first year, I hope they have plans for future buildings ASAP. They turn away a few hundred every year
