At least I finally know how I'm going to get my Delorean back home.

I think this is a great idea. It will give Oakland a more classic university look/feel. Thanks to people like Mr. and Mrs. Elliott for making projects like this possible.
I like the location of it as well. From the map in the video, it looks like the tower will be behind the OC and between O'Dowd and the library.

I don't hate the idea. I just openly wonder if that's the best use of 6 million dollars. The tower is nothing more than a show of wealth for the university, and I personally feel that there could be more pressing things than a clock tower.
But I appreciate donors putting money into the university at all.

I think it's fantastic that there are members of the community that are willing to continue their generosity to OU, this time through a gift of a landmark that people will come to associate campus with. The donors are paying for everything including an endowment for its future operating costs. This will be a tremendous positive addition to campus. If people are so concerned about funding for academic purposes, perhaps they should get involved in state government and question why OU has been underfunded for many years despite its growth and its commitment to lean operations. I did not see anyone complaining about the new donated golf clubhouse. This is exactly what private donations should be. A campus enhancement that I suspect will be a favorite congregation point for the community that would otherwise be inappropriate if funded publically. These types of improvements along with more housing will help make OU feel like a destination as opposed to a commuter campus.
