The volleyball team has gone from an absolute joke to competing for a horizon league championship. Congrats to coach Beam and let's go OU!

I'll be at the Horizon League finals this afternoon. Coach Beam has done a great job, and the team has been playing extremely well with a lot of confidence. They seem like a close-knit group, and they just find ways to win the close matches. They steamrolled YSU in the semifinals yesterday, and they play a tough Milwaukee team they just beat at the O'rena in five sets last weekend. Milwaukee had been the top team in the league for a while, so this is a chance to officially dethrone them after finishing a couple games ahead of them in the regular season.
I hope there will be a good crowd today; the team does notice the crowd support, and it's great that OU has been able to host the league tournament.

Heck of a job Coach Beam has done this season. Little by little since he first took over he has been building this program up to respectability and with this season we're seeing the fruits of his and the teams hard work. Good job to the entire program.

I know the pep band is coming out for the game. Usually provides a boost with some added noise and cheering.

I will be watching on ESPN3 today and couldn't be more excited to watch. They were very impressive in their semifinal win yesterday. They've got a lot of size that makes for an exciting watch with many blocks.

Greatly enjoyed watching the championship match. I don't know much about volleyball, but could tell that was a high-level matchup especially compared to how easily OU dispatched YSU yesterday. Congrats to the team!
I think that makes it four OU sports programs that have won Horizon League tournament championships in just two years in the league (men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, volleyball, men's soccer).

Recommend watching the Grizz Vision with Coach Beam and players talking about the tournament championship, especially the last 2 minutes or so where Coach Beam reflects on building the program to this point and accomplishing a dream. Really good stuff:

Thanks for posting the Grizz Vision link. The championship match was very intense. From the beginning of the first set, the O'rena was getting loud for each point, and the crowd was really into it. The players are very focused and intense on the court, yet they seem relaxed at the same time and play within themselves. It was just a cool atmosphere yesterday, and it was awesome to see the students storm the court after OU won. Coach Beam has done a great job, and his team seems to have a nice balance of confidence and humility. They represent Oakland well, take care of business in the classroom, and are now the class of the HL on the court.

I'm glad to see the volleyball program getting recognition for the great job they did this season. Coach Beam was a guest on the radio show last night and did a nice job. He's been building to this in the eight years he's been here, and a lot of work has gone into getting to this point; it isn't a case of just getting good all of a sudden. The team is fairly young, so I'm sure they expect to get even better next year and viewing this year as the new normal and not as a pinnacle. I liked his comment on the radio show about taking things one match at a time and just aiming to go 1-0 on each game day rather than looking ahead.
