Raiders knock off the Crusaders in Dayton. I guess we all see that mighty Valpo isn't invincible afterall.

The guy never has a very efficient offense, but man can Billy Donlon get his guys to play solid defense. In the back-to-back years that Wright State made it to the Horizon League final, they had a top-40 defense nationally in points allowed per possession. After tonight's win, they are now up to top 40 again. Impressive job after a subpar non-conference that had the WSU faithful once again calling for Donlon's job (an annual tradition over on their forum).

Even though the preseason polls did not reflect this, Wright State is officially the de facto number 2 team in the conference. Maybe things will change, but they're on the list of "teams to beat" now

If anyone reads this while watching our game against Wright State, you might want to keep an eye on Mercy/NKU. NKU's holding their own and is up by one with seven and change to go.

Northern Kentucky wins over Mercy 91-83!!
Man, talk about free falling. Hopefully Mercy can get their Sh@t together for one game and beat Wright State Sunday and put us in second. Won't hold my breath though.

The NKU-Mercy score makes me happy less for Mercy being terrible and more for this: Youngstown and NKU are both 4-5. Our two bad losses are turning out to be against middle-of-the-pack teams rather than the bottomfeeders we thought, which makes it a little easier to handle.

I was thinking the same thing last night and it does feel a little better, although still terrible because they were home games. Now let's hope we keep winning so we don't have to play them in an opening game in the tournament.
