So I'm not very familiar with the recruiting process but I was on verbal commits and saw we had an offer on the table for Jack Ballantyne. A 6'9" shooting PF from Dakota high school in Warren. Anyone know anything about him? www.verbalcommits.com/players/jack-ballantyne

Anyone know anything about him? www.verbalcommits.com/players/jack-ballantyneI saw him play with JJJ at Macomb Dakota a few times. Very good shooter with size but not real athletic or quick, Over time could develop into a very good player as his combination of size, shooting, and decent ball handling for a big guy. It would be hard to compare him to a previous OU player.

It should be noted that Ballantyne has been listed as having an offer from us since the beginning of his sophomore year, and he had several offers to choose from by the signing period at the beginning of his senior year.
You always have to wonder about these players who get offered but don't sign until extremely late in the process. They usually don't work out, and it's usually for maturity-based reasons. Not saying that's the case with Ballantyne, I barely know a thing about the guy, I'm just saying that it's the general trend.

Him and JJJ will both likely sign at Mercy and be average at best.

Him and JJJ will both likely sign at Mercy and be average at best. That's Mercy's motto: "Detroit Mercy: Average at best"

I'm not sure why this thread was started. With Beck signed, and Scott a VC with a few weeks to signing period, scholarships are maxed at 13 next year.
Doesn't included the following though: 1) Does Walker get a scholarship? 2) Billy Thomas? 3) Looking at Brock to GI Bill. My guess is they won't like what they find. 4) Any other potential outgoing/incoming transfers.

He was a walk-on for one semester while that bogus claim against him was still being investigated, but he's been on scholarship for two years already. I don't see that changing. We're at 14 scholarships for next year. If Brock switching to the GI Bill for a year doesn't work, somebody will be transferring out.

I went by the official Roster on goldengrizzlies. www.goldengrizzlies.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/oakl-m-baskbl-mtt.htmlThere are 16 players listed. If you are right about Walker, then that leaves 14 scholarships that were being used this past year (Gilbert & Cotter being walk-ons). 13 is still the limit, right?
