Hey all -- anyone else notice that it looks like we are over by 1 recruit for next year. Trey Townsend, who has not been updated in verbal commits, would put us over by 2. Is this Coach Kampe being proactive? I am sure it is.

Hey all -- anyone else notice that it looks like we are over by 1 recruit for next year. Trey Townsend, who has not been updated in verbal commits, would put us over by 2. Is this Coach Kampe being proactive? I am sure it is. I hadn't noticed the flurry of commitments in recent weeks. Thanks for pointing this out. I used to always update the scholarship chart, but VerbalCommits does a great job of this now. I did update it for old times' sake, which confirms that we are oversigned right now. (Chart assumes Rashad Williams does not get a waiver to play immediately and Coach follows through with talk of redshirting Yusuf Jihad this year). In my years of tracking this, I can't recall a time that we were oversigned at a moment in time. However, we also never lost guys to up-transfers or had the amount of transfers we had last offseason, so I can't really blame the coaching staff for being proactive. We have a huge freshman class this year, followed by another big one next year. That will create a very experienced squad in 2022-23, but also some huge classes to fill. That's so far off, and likely to change a ton by then! Attachments:

Are any of the current guys walkons? I don't think so, as reflected in the scholarship chart on Verbal Commits. Lampman and Goodline are not shown in the table, as media reports have confirmed they are walk-ons. That said, this table is not definitive so there is always a possibility that someone we think is on scholarship is not this year. Or that an announced commit could be coming as a preferred walk-on.
