Rocket's steal on the inbounds got me thinking that an iconic OU play that I will never forget. What other ones are there?
* Rocket skies to intercept an inbounds pass to seal the game (2024)
* Pierre Dukes hits go-ahead 3 to send OU to NCAA tournament (2005): * The two blocking foul inbounds plays ** Oral Roberts ** Youngstown State (2014): * Johnathon Jones buzzer beater (I'll look up the details)
I'm sure there are others. There are also bad iconic plays as well......

Erik Kangas hitting a three with just over a second left to take a 77-76 lead over NDSU in 09 in the O'Rena. It was one hell of a battle against that team all season

Just added the video of Rocket's steal. Man, that was some bad camerawork.

Bad camerawork seems to be a common thread this year.

That is the first play in this Erik Kangas Senior Year Highlights video I find myself watching every now and again. In my memory, he was more in the corner, but the way he curled around the screens with his body titling and still hitting the shot in the moment…truly iconic. Was one of NDSU’s only two losses in the league that year.

* Johnathon Jones buzzer beater (I'll look up the details) ORU at Oakland, February 6, 2010. Tied 77-77 in an Oakland-ORU rivalry game and OU’s Homecoming, JJ hit the go ahead jumper with 1 second left. Oakland was up by 5 with a minute left but ORU made a 3 and got a steal for a layup to tie it. JJ saved the day in front of a sold out crowd. I think that stands as my favorite home game ever. Been attending games since 2008, so missed anything before then. I also had a memory of JJ making a game winner at Oregon, but the play by play record corrected me. JJ scored 10 points in overtime to basically will the game away, after he had committed a foul at the end of regulation on a three point shooter who made all three to tie. We listened to that game on the radio (or maybe some online radio streaming service).

Xavier Hill-Mais rebound of an intentionally missed free throw and subsequent bucket to tie a game at the end of the first overtime, and then XHM hitting a huge three-pointer to put Oakland up for good toward the end of the second overtime, all on his Senior Night. 31 and 13 that night, highlighted by those two moments, in a year he gave his all to the program after some unfortunate, late roster departures during the first wave of the portal impacting Oakland.
May not be iconic, but my favorite sequence was in the 2010 championship game against IUPUI in Sioux Falls. Oakland was up 15 with 2 minutes left. Kito got a block that lead to a transition lay up for Derick Nelson, who got fouled for an And-1 that also lead to the media timeout. That moment was a coronation, as the game—and completion of the “Finish It” mantra of the 2009-10 season—was sealed with that sequence. D-Nel made the free throw for his 36th point of the night, one of, if not the, greatest “carry the team” performances in Oakland history given the stakes.
