Very good observations. Regarding the Grizz Gang, not sure where any of that stands, but it is clear the organization has fallen off. At some point, attendance issues fall on the athletic department. That being said, HL basketball attendance in general looks pretty weak to me.
Kampe frequently cites attendance problems across the board in a post-COVID world. Who knows? Maybe the “students” are getting fed up with “student-athletes” more interested in the transfer portal and NIL than loyalty to the university.

Last night was an awesome reminder of the special qualities of this program and place. Every Senior Night is great, but having one with four seniors and two four/five year guys like Blake and Trey, and cutting down nets, was just amazing. The win over UDM also capped an 8-2 home record in league play, which must be the best winning percentage at home in some time. The lack of student section participation is still baffling to me, but the folks who were there last night made for an awesome atmosphere. Kampe's tradition of having senior members of the band and dance team participate in the net cutting was awesome to see again. It also dawned on me last night - Oakland's two Horizon League regular season championships were in years without a prototypical "Oakland Point Guard". The 2016-17 team, which lost Kay Felder to the draft in the offseason, did point guard by committee, led by Sherron Dorsey-Walker who was thrust into a PG spot for the first time in his college career. Stevie Clark and a freshman Brailen Neely also played the role, but there was no one player who had the keys to the car like JJ, Reggie, Kay, Braden Norris, or Jalen Moore in that year or this year. Perhaps more important than the PG, though, was both teams excelled on the defensive side of the ball and had a deep bench. In the era of versatility, I've gotta say that I really like having multiple ball handlers/guys to initiate the offense. It makes us that much better. I think we have 1 'true pg' on the team (who plays somewhat consistently). I think that depth helps us a lot. Each of those ball handlers can give us double-digit scoring on any given game. In the case of injuries, I think it lessens the blow too. Its generally great to have options that can get it done. I hope Kampe sticks with that style instead 1 dominant pg that plays 35+ minutes a game.

I think Coach Kampe turned to Blake Lampman as a non-traditional PG because Coach trusts him to make good decisions. We also saw DQ Cole and Rocket Watta run the offense for stretches, though neither is in the mold of JJ Jones, Kahlil, Reggie or Jalen.
I was impressed with Tone Hunter's 4 minutes in the second half during which he handed out 4 assists. Assuming he stays for another year, he looks like a player who could run the offense. He might even earn Coach Kampe's permission to shoot.
