Just take care of business.

We've got the #1 seed in the HL tournament wrapped up (we win the tiebreaker both against YSU and in the potential threeway OU/YSU/GB tie). Normally, that would worry me going into a game like this, but our guys still have two things to play for:
1) finishing with a 20-win season 2) making sure Mercy finishes with a 30-loss season
Even though it could very well get as out of hand as the drubbing we gave IUPUI a few days ago, this is going to be a fun game to watch.

Kampe said as much at half but the first half looked like there was zone prep for this game not a good half hopefully the grizz get it fixed and play better in 2nd half

75-70 Final OU
They don't make it easy and love to keep Grizz fans on the edge of their seats but nevertheless hang a banner because the Grizz are outright Horizon Champions. Congrats to the guys, now let's get to Indy and get the Tourney banner.

Congrats to Kampe & team! It's not easy to win a regular season title. Next up, tournament title.

win the HL championship, senior night, 20 wins, 15 league wins and only 3 posts on here. Wow.; I had a buddy after the Xaiver win put $1000 on Oakland to win the league at 800 to one. He is a pretty happy dude right now. I asked him to buy me tickets to Indy..

Kampe has spoken quite a bit about how players and their parents have changed over the years - basically true. As a result, his coaching approach to players has had to adapt. What sets this season apart was his willingness to change methods. Namely, use the portal and JUCOs to build depth, rotate players regularly and emphasize a defensive approach with the zone. The results are obvious. Not bad for a person who has received a great deal of grief from fans.
He can cap this season off with a tournament win and head to the big dance. From there, he would get quite a bit of attention as the longest-tenured coach in college basketball. Couldn’t happen to a better guy…..

Congrats to the Grizzlies and Coach Kampe on a league title and well-deserved No. 1 seed. I was too nervous to sit, so I patrolled the O’rena last night. Black-and-gold apparel everywhere.
Big, anxious but hopeful crowd that exploded on Chris Conway’s dunk, Blake’s in-your-face 3, and Trey’s clinching 3-point play.
The senior sendoff was one of the best ever especially with the video montages. Proud to be an Oakland U alum this morning. It’s a special place.
Did anybody see an attendance figure? The number should be 3,000+, but it's not listed with any of the boxscores.

Lots of tears (by me) last night. Love senior night. Love Trey too. Wish we had a comfortable lead that would have allowed Kampe to sub out the players one at a time.

Last night was an awesome reminder of the special qualities of this program and place. Every Senior Night is great, but having one with four seniors and two four/five year guys like Blake and Trey, and cutting down nets, was just amazing.
The win over UDM also capped an 8-2 home record in league play, which must be the best winning percentage at home in some time. The lack of student section participation is still baffling to me, but the folks who were there last night made for an awesome atmosphere. Kampe's tradition of having senior members of the band and dance team participate in the net cutting was awesome to see again.
It also dawned on me last night - Oakland's two Horizon League regular season championships were in years without a prototypical "Oakland Point Guard". The 2016-17 team, which lost Kay Felder to the draft in the offseason, did point guard by committee, led by Sherron Dorsey-Walker who was thrust into a PG spot for the first time in his college career. Stevie Clark and a freshman Brailen Neely also played the role, but there was no one player who had the keys to the car like JJ, Reggie, Kay, Braden Norris, or Jalen Moore in that year or this year.
Perhaps more important than the PG, though, was both teams excelled on the defensive side of the ball and had a deep bench.
