The Horizon League announced all-league awards as voted on by the coaches. Oakland is represented extremely well: Trey Townsend is the Player of the Year. Blake Lampman made the Second Team All-League Jack Gohlke is the Sixth Man of the Year. horizonleague.org/news/2024/3/3/mens-basketball-horizon-league-announces-2023-24-hlmbb-all-league-awards.aspxI could write a book on how incredible each of these nods are for these particular guys, but for now, I just want to yell out how awesome it is that Blake Lampman was recognized as one of the top ten players in the Horizon League by the coaches. Blake had a truly special senior season. His shooting splits (2 pt FG/3 pt FG/FT %) topped the vaunted 50/40/90 mark, all while having the highest shot percentage of his career in league play.

Coach Kampe was ready with an all-time tweet:
We have been so lucky. So many great players and memories.

Well deserved, all of them.

Congrats to all three of them, but I'm especially happy fpr Trey right now. I said in his rookie year that he'd be the best home-grown player we ever had by the time he was done and he seems to be proving me right.
Also, am I remembering correctly? Was Lampman a walk-on his first year? If so, that second-team All-HL is an even bigger accomplishment.

Lampman was a walkon. You know who else was? Townsend.

Lampman was a walkon. You know who else was? Townsend. Coach said somewhere that that wasn't true. It was a rumor, but Trey's always been on scholarship.

I mean okay. *shrug* my phone call with a member of the staff when I had mentioned him being a walkon asking me to not say that definitely happened. They were concerned about a lower tier school being able to offer him a full ride before they could.
