Boise State is usually pretty great defensively, so I’m going to give them a lot of credit here. Oakland seems to be struggling to get into any sets and/or finding someone who can deliver the ball appropriately and timely to shooters.

We couldn’t even run the one tried and true play (no idea what it is called) where there is some screening action by the basket and then the big man kind of pops out from under the basket and receives a pass from the perimeter for an easy bucket. This play was run a million times for Trey Townsend most recently, but also Xavier Hill-Mais scored a lot of points that way. I think I saw that play get disrupted by Boise late in that first half. When that play doesn’t work you know you’ve got some work to do.

Mukeba has looked really good tonight. He may be our best hope at extending that First Team All-League streak this year.

I have found myself missing both the actual Blake Lampman and the concept of Blake Lampman the last two games. A guy who was a program constant and good things generally happen when he is on the court. Cooper Craggs has given me those vibes the last two games. Third-year freshman, so he’s been with the program, and he is out there playing his tail off, which tends to lead to good things. He just became the first big man to play inside out tonight by actually passing out of the post, and it led to a good look and made three by Christie.

I agree Boise has been great on defense but I see a lot of bad shots thier defense has forced us to take bad shots not make extra passes too many jump shots few layup and not working inside out which I'm sure kampe will say bottom line the grizz got lots of work to do on offense but did see some good things

Thank God for youtube. Was able to watch the replay of the game last night and agree regarding Mukeba. Even when not at 100% I like his hustle and effort on defense. On a couple fast break plays for Boise he got back and blocked a couple of shots.

Probably a couple more slaughters on deck here but then hopeful for some competitive games with Eastern and Toledo. I'm not dismayed, these guys need some time.

I'm not sure what more time will help at this point. There are a couple of decent players on the roster, but overall the team just does not have the personnel needed to be competitive at the D1 level.

Every team has to deal with many players transferring in and out every season now - nothing unique to Oakland at all.

It is disappointing that Oakland seems to have not been able to capitalize on last year's NCAA tournament run in terms of recruiting, marketing, or fan interest. Attendance at opening game was poor, and the quality of the video/audio production of the live games was similar to the often poor product of the past couple seasons.
