Keep in mind I don't know all of the info on the recruits that each school has coming in or how they may perform but my personal predictions are primarily based on what each school has returning.
1. OU - Missing Kangas may hurt us in the early going but both Cush and Drew have shown themselves to be very capable perimeter shooters and with Larry Wright coming in there will be another player to add to our perimeter game. Having a much improved Kito and D. Nel returning doesn't hurt either .
2. ORU - With a year under most of the freshman's belts from the previous season you can expect Coach Sutton's crew to be in it to the end. Expect their overall record to be MUCH better than last season and they will pickup some quality wins with a very favorable home schedule that has a nice set of games.
3. IUPUI - This team seems to be a dark horse just about year in and out. You really can't put them down as a favorite but you really can't put them in the bottom half of the league at any time either. I like what Alex Young brings to the table from his freshman season and they have enough talent (along with Coach Hunter) to be contenders all season long.
4. South Dakota State - I know this may be a surprise but they showed ME some flashes of brilliance last season (apart from our postseason game with them) towards the latter end of the season that makes me think they can compete for a top half finish in the league. Kai Williams and Garret Callahan will be a handful. Like the fact that they have a decent home schedule with Central Michigan and Denver coming to Brookings.
5. Southern Utah - A hard nosed gritty team that will continue to give any team in the league fits no matter what the talent level is on that team. I expect the same to be true again this season.
6. North Dakota State - Losing both Winkelman and Woodside along with a couple other serviceable seniors and you can bet you are going to slide back into the standings until you show otherwise. Regardless, they will be a team to keep an eye on. They may win some games they probably shouldn't win.
7. IPFW - Losing former OU player and friendly nemesis Dave Carson will hurt the Don's but they will have some firepower with Botts and Yearby to compete.
8. Western Illinois - Still a couple years away from really competing with the top teams. Coach Molinari seems like he may be a decent fit. He had them going in the right direction early in the league season before they apparently hit their ceiling.
9. UMKC - Not expecting a lot from this team after losing so much including one of their players to us in Hamilton.
10. Centenary - Going to be a rough final two years for this team.
** So what do you all think? Feel free to give some thoughts or predictions.
