I am sure we have all thought about the chance we have this year to dominate the post in the Summit League but I decided to take it just one more step and actually look at the other teams to compare the advantage we have in size alone not even taking into consideration the skill level of our big men this year which is phenomenal. With 2 players at 6'9, 1 at 6'11 and a 7 footer we are by far deeper then any other Summit team when it comes to our post players. This is not even considering we will also have Derrick Nelson back who is as scrappy as they come and can easily be in the top 2 or 3 in rebounding at the end of the year. When it comes to the other Summit League teams I have listed the height of their post men so you can see just how much of an advantage we have and definitely an area we will need to dominate in to stay ahead of the Summit League competition.
IPFW (1) 6'9 and (1) 6'10
IUPUI (1) 6'8
UMKC (1) 6'7 and (1) 6'9
NDSU (1) 6'8 and (2) 6'9
ORU (1) 6'9 and (2) 6'10
SDSU (2) 6'10
SUU (2) 6'9
WIU (2) 6'10
CENT (2) 6'8
OU (2) 6'9,(1) 6'11, (1) 7'0 + Nelson haha
I have no doubt that creating a solid inside game will be the key this year to success. If we can build on the inside game and its presence we should create some great open looks for JJ, Derrick, and Wright. I am pumped about the opportunity that we have this year and now the focus begins to switch to execution. The pieces of the puzzle are in place we have depth this year in the front and back court.
