I'm thinking that for this to happen, not only would he have to dominate the season, but Oakland would probably have to win at least one game in the tourney.

I think he can be a first rounder if he dominates against the big boys eg Kansas, MSU, etc, & if we win a game in the NCAA's & he is a major reason why. But I don't see him coming out early. If he stays all 4 years and continues to improve, I think he'll be a 1st rounder. Also since he's 6'11'' w/ potential, u pretty much can't pass up on him from an NBA exec standpoint.
At minimum I c him being signed as a free agent. Either way we should see him in the league in a few years.

I agree with hoopsfan. If Benson found himself in the first round of the NBA Draft, it would be because he dominated this year (including strong performances against the big non-conference schools) and OU had a great season as a result. All of which would reflect positively on Oakland's program.
Having said all that, I hope this kind of talk doesn't get Benson thinking about playing pro ball too soon.

I will never say "never" after seeing the good fortune George Hill had, but I would be floored if Benson comes out early. This year should be great for Benson and OU, but I can't imagine it will be that great.

Benson shouldn't leave early even if he had an outstanding season. I know I'm being a bit of a homer, but I believe he is still too thin for the league. He should use these last two years to really bulk up. If he leaves early and becomes a first round pick ill be ecstatic. That would be 2 former OU players that made the NBA in the last 6 years. That would be a great recruiting advantage for Kampe.

There not centers though.

There not centers though. Yeah, he does need to bulk up. If he put on 10-20lbs, he should be fine. For example; Hilton Armstrong 6'11'' 235, Tyson Chandler 7'1'' 235, Josh Boone 6'10 237, Marcus Camby 6'11'' 235, JaVale McGee 6'11'' 237. Beyond the size factor, strength is the biggest issue. I do think if he stays all 4 yrs he can get there in strength & size.

Being completely selfish, I am really hoping he stays 4 years for OU's sake.
