Hey guys, whats up w/ the North Dakota Fighting Sioux? Did they change their mascot? Are they still trying to get in the Summit? I think they'll be great for the league. If they join, pretty soon we'll have all the major Dakota schools in the summit. Also, I know we don't sponsor hockey, but their arena is sweet!

Their nickname should be settled one way or the other by the end of the year.

I don't think its strange at all. From the looks of things, each school has a large and passionate fan base. To have Summit league fans like that is great for the league. Heated rivalries are also great for the league. It also looks great when tournament time comes around for a national TV audience (a packed stadium w/ screaming fans). Think about it, 2 states where their biggest schools are summit league schools? These aren't directional schools (eastern Mich, western Mich) these are their main state universities. Every other state that SL schools are in, our schools are mid major after thoughts, playing in the shadows of the Big 10, Big 12, Big East, SEC, MWC, heck even other mid major leagues; MAC, Horizon, etc. So to have 2 states where SL schools are the top dog is awesome. Wouldn't u agree?

Its only because they are the only D-1 schools in those states, and they don't have any professional teams close.

Since they don't have any pro teams, then that's even better 4 the Summit League. Think about other states that don't have any pro teams, they're college sports are all that much more important (Kentucky-hoops, Alabama-Football, Kansas-hoops,...)

UND would be a solid addition for the league. Good school, that will strengthen the league's image. That said, I think bringing in UND might be a move to 12 schools and divisions. Who would be the 12th team?

Well with Centenary leaving and South Dakota being added and if North Dakota is added then I think 2 divisions will be formed. That being said I hope it is a school in the midwest, because that would cut traveling costs for us some.

Yeah I agree, Mid West is the way 2 go. R there anymore schools transitioning from DII - DI in the Mid West?
