Is the league looking to expand elsewhere since Centenary is leaving, UMKC is exploring dropping to DII, & Southern Utah has been trying to leave for a while now too?

I couldn't find the thread where it was originally brought up, but I remember in the past someone talking about how the Summit League might get to 12 teams if it chose to add North Dakota in the future. Someone put Denver out there considering their odd fit in the Sun Belt, but apparently Denver has bigger sights: the WAC. Andy Katz has a pretty fantastic article about Denver's program rebirth as well as how it fits in with the WAC's plans. Next week the WAC is meeting with Denver, Texas State, UTSA, and Montana to discuss bringing those teams into the fold considering the recent losses of Boise State, Nevada, and Fresno State (ouch!). Needless to say, Denver seems to be out of the SL picture. HOWEVER: I think it is in our interest as fans of this league to hope that Montana gets an invite to the WAC. Their basketball program has come along, including last season's NCAA Tournament appearance. If they bring their football program to the WAC, that would leave the Big Sky down to eight teams. It's conceivable that the Big Sky could continue on as an eight team league, but maybe they will invite Southern Utah in a move that has been rumored and talked about for a long time now. There is no doubt it would be a good move for SUU and the Summit League. This would open the door for the conference to invite North Dakota, leaving the conference as a solid 10 teams and cutting travel a bit (also giving us the four Dakota schools which in my mind have become an incredible asset to our league). Food for thought.

Great insight on expansion. Truly the Domino Effect in action. I don't remember who posted it before, but OU leaving the SL is completely contingent on what opportunities there are to jump ship and the opportunities which are around now could completely change in the not so distant future.
