It appeared that there was an overflow crowd in the student section, and also there are now ushers who actually check ticket stubs for location.
The result was a lot of wandering souls who eventually found a home in the south bleachers, or ending up standing on the north concourse.
Are there any students out there who know if there are plans to address this issue in future games?

That's a problem?? I would think the more students the better unless you're saying that it was excess students who had to move to the south bleachers.

Sorry not to be more clear.
Yes, these were students who were looking for a place to sit.

We need tickets now to sit in the student section? And if you do, where do you get those tickets?

ya i think the student sec. is going to be naturally more full this year because they will not let a student sit anywhere but the student section now. I know I tried sitting in the middle for the UofD women's game and the usher asked me to move over to student seating. Not a bad idea, though I do know a few students personally who were without a seat at the Eastern Game. This will just mean that the dedicated students will get seats first and a 7pm tip means in the seats by 6. As for non-students sitting in the student sec. I cannot speak to that.

We need tickets now to sit in the student section? And if you do, where do you get those tickets? Getting into the games and sitting in the student section is just like last year. The only difference now is that the first three rows or so are reserved for if you are one of the first "X" amount of people to go to the tailgates before the games. Posters ouguy or biglew could probably be of more assistance in explaining this. It appeared that there was an overflow crowd in the student section, and also there are now ushers who actually check ticket stubs for location. The only people I saw checking for tickets in the student section was for the people who got their really early to enjoy the tailgate and thus got a guaranteed spot in the first three rows of the student section. I for one would be all for students only being allowed to sit in the student section or the bleachers. Sit in the bleachers if you don't want to stand up, but don't take up the reserved seats that we need to have to garner the support of the community/staff/faculty/alumni/etc. And if you don't like the view from the bleachers, then stand with your brethren in the student section and cheer on the team and participate in the chants like students have to do at other schools. However, if the student section plus the overflow section are truly full (which they weren't for this game, there were plenty of pockets), then the staff definitely need to invent other options for students to take advantage of. It's a good problem to have.

Definitely a good problem to have. It has been great to see how the student section has developed over the past few years. It is now the best in our conference. To the Grizz Gang organizers and members: keep up the good work.

Let me clarify a little bit, as biglew and I are the President and VP of the Grizz Gang. We made special requests with the O'Rena to section off one section of bleachers closest to the Pep Band and they did not do it for us. We want all overflow students to stand there because it is next to the pep band and it will create a corner wrap-around effect that will be awesome. As for reserved seats in the student section, only the first 3 rows will be reserved and that is only on tailgate games. We created the reserved 3 rows so that students will come early to the tailgate without a fear of getting a bad seat by sticking around and enjoying the tailgate. I can get a list of tailgate games up so that everyone knows exactly which games are tailgate games.
We were VERY happy with the student turnout, which was probably the biggest we've ever had besides maybe last years Oral Roberts game and we were also very happy to see most every student in the section standing and wearing black.
In my opinion, overflowing the student section is a GREAT problem to have!
