Not one mention of Oakland in the article when talking about the other Summit League teams. I think our aspirations for joining the Horizon are much greater. We have better athletics in general and have proved more in our time in D1. That is great of them to think ahead, but I figure if we can't join, then they sure shouldn't get in. I don't know how our academics rank compared to theirs, but I know our athletes are held to high standards when it comes to the academic bench mark.

Sure it is their wish to the join the Horizon League. I like what their program is doing, but to base being able to be a part of that league by pointing to recent wins over Valpo is not enough to make it a realistic shot.
Seems like there will still come a day when some combo of Big East, A-10, and Horizon League teams come together for a Catholic-based basketball league. At that point, I could see IPFW being considered.
It's probably the OU fan in me, but should Youngstown State ever find its way out of the H-League, seems like Oakland would be first choice for a replacement.

Only thing IPFW has over Oakland is there off-site arena. We need to get a new arena if we are to be taken serious by other conferences.

I think IPFWs off site arena hurts them. It is very hard for students to get there and its way to old and huge for IPFW.
The O'Rena is good for now....but if we ever do get a new arena please please please build in a student section along the court (like Michigan/SDSU for example). Besides no built in student section in the O'Rena, I love how loud it can get!

I guess IPFW can dream, but they have much bigger problems than being a member of the Summit League.

I do like the fact that a Summit school is being ambitious. It seems like some of our schools have no real direction and are content with just fielding teams and being in the middle of the pack (WIU and UMKC come to mind).
