Denzel Valentine, brother of OU's Drew, recently picked up an offer from Michigan. He has an offer from Oakland as well already, apparently. Scout.com interviewed him the other day: michigan.scout.com/2/986795.htmlSeems like he is being recruited at a more elite level than his brother was, but I suppose Oakland has the family edge. Though if MSU gets involved, considering where he's from, it'd be tough to beat out that program. Also the UMHoops blog has a pretty great video highlight of Denzel from AAU this summer: www.umhoops.com/2010/07/27/video-denzel-valentine-aau-highlights/That first highlight features some sick passes and blocks as well as skillful drives to the basket. Funny in the interview he admits to not being very athletic or quick, but he is definitely right he is incredibly skilled and good bball IQ. Reminds me of how Drew always seemed to be in the right spot for a timely rebound or putback last season. Perhaps Denzel's upper-tier recruitment will fuel a fun little brotherly rivalry with Drew. Still hoping he blossoms into a great player for Oakland.

You can look no further than the McCallum's at UDM.

Here's a brief interview with Denzel after his UofM visit: www.umhoops.com/2010/08/03/post-visit-qa-denzel-valentine/He's now got offers from Butler, Xavier, and Wisconsin as well as UM and MSU. Crazy how quickly he has ascended. One thing about UMHoops (and other recruiting gurus), you have to give them a lot of credit for chasing high schoolers around the country. Hard to think Denzel was just a sophomore in HS last season, and he's already got guys knowing his full schedule and calling him up for interviews as soon as he's done with one visit.

Got a chance to watch Sexton win the state championship and it was a joy to watch Denzel Valentine out there. He looks so much like his brother I kept thinking it was Drew. But he's got a different game. Tom Izzo is already saying that Denzel has "Magic"-like passing ability. www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2012/03/michigan_states_tom_izzo_cant.htmlIzzo landed a great one in Denzel. I hope OU gets a game with MSU this season to see Denzel and Drew on the court at the same time, albeit in different uniforms.
