As the season approaches, there will no doubt be a ton of conference previews showing up around the net. In the meantime, I have racked my brain to come up with a series of posts that will hopefully adequately cover aspects of the league that are bound to go overlooked by the bigger platforms. Or, at least very least, hopefully they are a bit more unique! My first post is up today with "five players to watch" this year. And when I say "watch," I mean it literally. Watch these guys, or feel free to disagree and come up with other guys worthy of such distinction. grizzliesgameplan.blogspot.com/2010/10/five-summit-league-players-to-watch-in.html

McClintock reminds me of Luke Ridnour back at Oregon. Not just bc both r white, but in the way they move with the ball & handle the ball...He looks exciting to see, even though he plays @ ORU.

Excellent job of being objective and professional when writing up players from other teams. You're setting the bar high with intelligent, insightful, and informative posts each time out. If you keep this up once the season starts, the Gameplan will be absolutely essential reading for any writer covering any of the teams in the Summit.

Thanks, Germane! Hopefully it never gets too professional though, otherwise I wouldn't be able to actively voice my concern over Hunter McClintock's need for a sweet nickname that somehow incorporates his dirty-looking mustache (which I hope was just not something he had when he got his press photo taken). I just have to make sure I keep the blog germane to Summit League enthusiasts. Anyway, another day, another preview post, this one called Coaching Storylines in The Summit League for 2010-11. Basically, a paragraph or so about some of the issues facing each SL coach. grizzliesgameplan.blogspot.com/2010/10/summit-league-coaching-storylines-for.htmlFor those curious, the remaining SL preview posts will be posted on Friday, Monday, and Wednesday. Then we get ready to narrow the scope back to Oakland.

I gotta agree w/ Germane, as the season is getting closer I'm really enjoying your blog Black & Gold. Very insightful, and you've obviously done your homework which isn't always the case when writers or bloggers are covering the summit.

Very insightful, and you've obviously done your homework which isn't always the case when writers or bloggers are covering the summit. Thanks, sportsdoc. I hope it continues to be insightful. I actually did end up with a new post today after all, mostly because I really wanted to bring up the new NDSU arena somehow but didn't feel like an entire post was necessary. So I just paired it together with a few other things to arrive at this post called the Five Interesting Off-Season Developments for SL Basketball. Not too much new here for people who read the board and keep up with Oakland, but always good to bring some light to this league. grizzliesgameplan.blogspot.com/2010/10/five-interesting-off-season.html
