Great quality post as always blackandgold. I agree with your rankings down the list, and could even see Detroit above U of M this year. After seeing U of M struggle in the summer against European teams, and w/out seeing either OU or UDM play yet, I will go out on a limb and put U of M at 4.

Interesting to look back at B&G's preseason list. Although Michigan has been, overall, better than expected (beating MSU twice and Oakland once), this morning's RPI pretty much mirrors the preseason list, with the exception of moving WMU way ahead of CMU and EMU. From CBS Sports RPI (March 12, 2011): 40. MSU 48. Oakland 50. U-M 143. Detroit 173. WMU 307. CMU 325. EMU www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/rankings/rpi/index1Obviously, if MSU and U-M win again today in the Big Ten tourney, their numbers will go up. Just thought this was interesting.

Glad it kind of-sort of holds up with RPI. But eye test and head to head shows it does not. One thing is for sure, I will never again attempt such preseason rankings. Glad I have found my "voice" since those early days without actual basketball to talk about.
