Kudos to Gregory. I heard talk recently that he was one of the candidates for the GT job but not much else beyond that. What I have also heard is that many Dayton alums/fans have grown a little impatient with the results Brian has put up and aren't exactly upset at seeing him go. Might be best for both parties to just part ways. I wish him very well at Tech and hopefully he can get that program competing with Duke and UNC in due time. He is in one heck of a recruiting area.

Might be best for both parties to just part ways. True dat. It also probably didn't help him with the fans that he just had two freshmen decide to transfer out, one of them a hometown stud. Either way, that school has a dedicated fanbase. Hope they get someone who can keep them atop the A10.

I've read a few articles here and there this week/weekend about the one-and-done rule evening the playing field a bit and being one of the forces behind these unbelievable runs by mid-majors. Obviously Coach Cal is going to try to prove that's bogus this weekend, but in other areas of the country this week a lot of guys are declaring early for the draft. Two teams that could have been absolutely brutal next year, Texas and UCLA, are already starting to feel it as Jordan Hamilton/Tristan Thompson are rumored to be entering and at UCLA Honeycutt and Lee have just put their names in and the big freshman Joshua Smith is considering it as well. As a college basketball fan, it's sort of frustrating because it'd be awesome to watch some of that talent play together with a year or two under their collective belts, but at the same time if it gives mid-majors an edge, all the better! Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I personally think that it is stupid that the NCAA allows basketball players to be one and dones. So many kids enter the draft and (I say kids because many are not mature enough to be men), and suffer injuries or just are not developed enough to perform at the NBA level. I think college basketball should develop the same rule that NCAA football has where one has to be a student for at least two years. It is better for the players who hone their skills and get an education to fall back on. It is better for the universities who are then able to build programs and actually have accountability of their players. Lastly, it will make college basketball even better and the NBA will be better as well because athletes will enter the sport with more experience. Just my opinion

From the Freep today, there was an article saying that MSU is interested in the services of Valparaiso's All-League point guard, Brandon Wood. He was solid against Oakland last season and was the star of that team. Apparently Wood is set to graduate but still has a year of eligibility, and he could use the NCAA rule allowing those with a degree to play IMMEDIATELY if they transfer to a school that offers a graduate degree program they want to be in. www.freep.com/article/20110419/SPORTS07/110419033/Valpo-guard-considering-Michigan-State?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|SportsI feel like this is the worst kind of betrayal. Wood's comments in the source article (http://www.nwitimes.com/sports/college/valparaiso-university/article_2325014d-0469-52d9-b335-b310d5017dcc.html) are fine and dandy, but I just can't help but think how I would feel if I was a Valpo fan right now. To be honest, this crossed my mind last year with Kito...because he had graduated and was in need of some more exposure. Fortunately, we have a coach who went the extra mile with the schedule to give Kito every opportunity in the world to showcase his talents. If I was Homer Drew (and assuming there isn't some other conflict with Wood), I'd be prepping in much the same way right now.

Did anyone watch Missouri last night in the Jimmy V Classic? What a fun team to watch! They remind me a lot of Oakland this year with the four-guard line-up and one quality big man near the basket. Plus, they've got an undersized point guard who dishes the rock really well.
That is a team I wouldn't mind seeing Oakland parallel for much of this season.
