I was on the UDM athletics site a few minutes ago , looking for tickets to go see Butler at their place, and I saw the headline for a monthly TV show covering their Bball team on FSD. Now we all know that FSD will show just about anything (have you seen their sunday morning line-up??), but I'm bummed to see UDM getting a show with no love for OU. Here is the link to the article if you're all interested www.detroittitans.com/news/2010/11/10/MBB_1110100108.aspxPlease note!: I am not dissing UDM in any way, I am only saying I wish we had a show as well!

Well, since they have no radio whatsoever (OU has 1130AM that used to cover UDM) i guess they got to do something to spark interest locally. Should be interesting to see how long this goes.

I attended the UD vs Valpo game today. Have not been there since OU played them several years ago. Good lighting for an old arena. Nice wide seats. However, there were a lot of things that really made me appreciate the O'rena. The most obvious was the lack of a video board. They have nothing that comes close. The student section/band are at best half the size of OU's and aren't nearly as effective. Getting out of the parking lot was a mess. Total disorganization.
As far as the game goes, Detroit lacks a shooter. Their offense really looked one dimensional and some of their bigs played without heart. Valpo was up 18 in the first half when their 3 was going the way we remember it can from a few weeks ago. The second half was painful to watch. Neither team really got things rolling, but all Valpo had to do was hit free throws because Detroit never made a sustained run. The most entertaining thing of the afternoon was the breakdancing ballboy.
I was happy to take advantage of the free tickets, but the fan experience is substantially more enjoyable at the O'rena. Also, it seems that the attendance of 4100 was a generous number. Valpo won this one easily.

Understand that I have no love for UDM but good grief that team rarely plays like a "team". Reminds me a little of the Mike Helms era. I went to the UDM/Butler game Fri night and THAT was a clinic of epic proportions. Felt bad for the near 7000 that came out on that cold night to watch that game (unless your a Bulldog fan). Butler and Valpo are heads and shoulders over everyone else in the HL at least for the time being.
