I've had fun over the years watching high school games involving future OU recruits such as Drew Maynard, Blake Cushingberry, Jay Thames and Jon Tassin. You can tell a lot by watching a guy non-stop in the course of a game. With the schedule clear on the home and work front, Friday was my big chance to check out Matt Poches as Hartland took on Howell. Here's the low-down on Matt: - He has really nice white shoes with gold trim
- His warmup jacket says "Poches" in generic lettering on the back, and his name hangs on its own banner from the rafters (as does one for everybody else on the team)
- You can see that he has enough of a frame to mix it up at the college level
- He did a fine job of handing out water cups to his teammates during time outs, and cheering on his fellow players.
"How did he play?" Well he didn't. Turns out he was in an on-court collision a few days ago and apparently he was being held out as a precaution. Without him on the court, it wasn't the most compelling game you could imagine although Howell has a really tall forward and a very athletic freshman point guard. Maybe next time!

That was the greatest scouting report I've ever read. Gary, you should post more often. That was a golden post!
