Finally some good news around here.
Pioneer (or Admin) - maybe you should change the subject to include class year and commit?

ESPN Recruit Page: Strengths: Neely is an undersized power forward that welcomes contact and can score inside with drop steps and when he receives drop off passes created by dribble penetration. He is a below the rim finisher in traffic although he can finish above the rim on the break when he is ahead of the pack. Neely can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim with straight line drives especially from the high post area where he likes to spin off defenders and will hit the open 18 footer with needed time and space. Neely is a good area rebounder on both ends as well.
Weaknesses: Neely looks like he could improve his strength and conditioning along with working to develop his perimeter ball handling and extend his range due to him only being 6-5 and with a desire to develop into at least a part time small forward in the future. He is a good not great athlete as well. Neely also picks up cheap fouls at times because he reaches instead of moving his feet.
Bottom Line: Neely is a tough, competitive but under sized power forward that can score inside and out when put in the right situations. He is a good rebounder but must develop his ball skills and extend his range along to aid him in reaching his potential. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/126771/lloyd-neelyParts of the description bring to mind Derick Nelson.

A commitment from Detroit as well! Is that the first one since the Helms era?

I never heard of him, but a 6'5'' PF doesn't excite me at all. There are some exceptions sometimes, but unless he'll be playing the 3 I don't c the need 2 be excited. Hopefully I'm wrong...time will tell.

While I would really like to see Oakland get a 6'8" or so guy to play power forward, this guy sounds like he has a high motor on the glass (14 rebounds per game!!!) and if he can hit a jump shot, that will be a big value to Oakland since it has not had many mid-range jump shooters in recent years (or maybe it has but the dribble-driven offense de-emphasizes such a shot).

I'm not at all excited about a 6'5'' PF. Maybe he's going to make the transition to SF I hope. At that size how will he compete in our OOC schedule? Think abt it he's around the same size as Bader, Val, & Dante Williams but only as a full time post player?

I know everyone wants to make the transition to being Butler asap, but there's just not numerous 6'8" guys that are versatile 4s floating around all over, especially for mid-majors and even in the state of MI. Kampe today told us he thinks Neely is a 6'5" Draymond Green and would be at Michigan State if he were two inches taller.
