Not feeding the hot hand seems to be an issue in second halves unless the hot hand is Kay. This team has been BRUTAL in the second half of games and at making in game adjustments. I wonder if we miss Coach Sorenson more than we knew we would. Something is really messed up with this team on a coaching side right now. Weems was new and only here for a minute so I look to Sorenson's departure. Something is definitely broke right now. I wondered the same thing. If I am not mistaken - Sorenson was given much of the credit for the development of Kito. Then - he turned what was once thought of as a lightly recruited D1 Center in Corey Petros and turned him into a pretty darn good post player - good enough to be playing pro ball overseas and start nearly every game in 4 years. I am done being bitter - This team's legacy will be built upon how they respond to these 2 losses. The positives - The O'rena looked absolutely fantastic on TV - and in person. It was a pretty incredible atmosphere, especially in the 1st half. Kudos to the Grizz Gang for showing up - the kids were awesome.

Humbling.
If Valpo plays basketball at this level for the next two months, nobody will touch the Crusaders. They are big, talented, confident and obviously well coached. They overwhelmed our guys on national TV in front of a record crowd.
Tough, tough night for Kay Felder. Maybe it was just an off night. Everybody has them. I respect and admire Kay, but during games when he's not hitting his shots, I'd sure like to see him focus on leading his team by passing and defending. This game too closely resembled the Horizon League tournament loss to UIC last March when Kay hit 7 of 25 shots in a solo but failed effort to carry the team to victory.
Last night, SDW hit 4 of 7 shots. Hooper hit 4 of 7 shots. They got their shots in the flow of the offense — usually on passes from Kay.

Who cares if they are all threes. He hit both his threes in the 2nd half. He certainly needs to shoot more. He played 11 min in 1st half, 12 min in 2nd half. Oh my God! I've got to change my default avatar!! Phew!!! Avatar is now changed. That's my grandpa playing for Valpo. PPS--I guess Kampe's brother didn't show up to ref this year, must have caught Greg's fever and stayed home! :-)

Humbling loss. I think this is probably a good dose of reality for this team. We can't outscore teams everynight, especially in league play. They know exactly what we're doing & how to defend it. Hats off to Valpo. Like Kampe said they are the king of the league. We got embarrassed on national TV at home.
There is enough time for us to correct things. We need to defend, & score from multiple positions. It was very frustrating to watch us just lay down with no fight. I expect Kampe & Co to go back to the drawing board & put together a better game plan for the rest of the season including the rematch @ The ARC.

Valpo was a BIG team. They even have a freshmen who is 7' 1"!
They out played us. They were a better team.
Our best years were with Kito and Hudson. We need to get back to big and strong 4s and 5s. If we had an inside game, we would be much better.
Maybe we will play better when the spot light isn't shining so bright on us.

Also, I was happy with the White Out. It really looked cool with so many people wearing white.

After last night's game, Lunardi's BPI rankings now list Valpo as a probably 8 seed and well into autobid territory. Clearly this is all going to plan: We lose to Valpo twice in the regular season, then in the HL tournament we take down an overconfident team who's making the NCAA tourney either way. We're then the winner of a two-bid conference. Kampe, you crafty dog you. OK seriously, this sucked. We fell apart in the second half... again. Just like we did in Virginia. Something's going on with this team and it needs to be fixed. Until we get more info, I don't have much else to say. Except this. Somebody mentioned this above, but I thought I'd post the link. This isn't how I thought we'd get on Sportscenter again: espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:14533539espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:14533539

Things are never as good as they seem and things are never as bad as they seem. Great point. This doesn't always apply to the game performances themselves, which can indeed be great or terrible, but the games are over after 40 minutes (plus maybe overtime). Trying to draw broader conclusions about the state of the program is where things get messy. Very easy to swing from extreme to extreme.

Well said, the team has been outplayed by MSU, Virginia and Valpo in the second half, and all by a large margin. They have not even been close.
