Dead serious, this Detroit Mercy team is on track to be the worst Horizon League team in the last fifteen years. The spread will likely be more than 20 points. There is no excuse for this to be a competitive game. Looking through Mercy's box-scores there's two ways they issues could arise. 1. Mercy forces a bunch of turnovers. In competitive games against Fort Wayne, Valpo, and Western Kentucky they were able to mitigate their horrendous half court offense by scoring easy buckets and forcing 18 turnovers a game. 2. Allen/Jenkins getting hot from three. Corey Allen looks to be a future all league player and we've all seen what happens when Jenkins gets in a rhythm. Both have volume scoring ability. If the duo gets it going in the same game things could get interesting. I mentioned this last year but I think it's worth repeating. What a great opportunity for Mercy to play in front of local fans in a packed arena on national TV. On another note, President Obama's farewell speech got me thinking about Mercy fans last night. I'd like to make a call for Oakland fans to empathize with the elderly Mercy fanbase. A fanbase who has seen society pass their team/university by. A fanbase who grew up with Marquette as their rival. That was fun because they were both top 25 teams. A fanbase who's ceiling was just so damn high. A fanbase who has attempted to embrace the rivalry, though it diminishes themWe have to pay attention, and listen.

I'm shocked no one has brought up how atrocious this new "re-branding" has looked for Mercy. That new logo looks like they tried to take an old school 80s logo and smash an old English M inside of it. I'm pretty sure they did a "design the new logo" contest amongst their students because that thing is terrible. Also why have they now decided to included the Mercy in their athletics? For a long time their athletics were still Detroit, but now they're trying to slam both of them in there for whatever reason. I've seen their box score program name shortened as "DETMER" on a few sites, which is a horrendous shortening. Things kkke this make me really satisfied with the work that OU Athletics has done lately: we scrapped the bad logos and said we are grizzlies, here's a grizzly head and we WEARtheBEAR. Done

Also wanted to add to the Jenkins predictions: for all we know, a strategy of full court chaotic press may have really affected us. We haven't seen the press too much in game but who knows if we practice against it. Now that he basically brought it up and said they were going to do that, you can be sure that Kampe will give his guys a heads up, maybe even focus on playing against it more. Seemed like a sort of dumb move by him and by his coaches for letting him throw all of that crap out there.
And since when is having players academically ineligible considered a hurdle for a team to get over? That's not a freak injury or something like that, it's something you controlled and you didn't manage. Can't feel bad for them there.

Done I brought it up in the other Detroit thread about how they cant win a DI game. Its soooo bad looking. They apparently spend a million dollars researching and designing it. They could have gotten the same results for free by going to a 5th grade class and having them do a design contest.

Jenkins has put up 9, 4, 22 and 8 against OU in his four meetings. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but cmon. Also, OU is a 20 point favorite. Twenty.

Nice little hype video for the game. So excited to attend my first sellout crowd of the year! On a side note, if the entire east side of the student section still doesn't stand up I might implode.
