Overall a really good Exhibition game for the Grizzlies, here is what I took from the game:
-The beginning of the game we didn't look very good. We were running a crazy run and gun offense with JJ running full steam down the court. I think this is because we thought we could run away with the game and towards the second part of the first half we slow it down a lot.
-Hope's offense drove on us too easily at the beginning but we were able to slow down their game and make some good adjustments.
-I was really impressed with Larry Wright in his first actual game as a Grizzly. He made his first 3 attempt and then went 1 for 6 so I can't quite judge his three shooting yet, but he was able to get a lot of open looks and easy, high percentage shots. He also looked really calm and collected, which I really liked.
-JJ was a little crazy at the beginning but then slowed it down and had a lot of assists.
-Benson was somewhat timid at the beginning of the game as well but then erupted with a few sweet dunks. He is looking a lot beefier this year and I think he has a ton of confidence.
-Will Hudson was a rebounding machine and he was able to get a ton of good looks. He also seemed to have some better posting up moves.
-Derick Nelson was looking as big and strong as he was two years ago. Hopefully he can fit right back into his previous role. I liked his play.
-Blake Cushingberry was awesome off the bench and he provided one hell of a spark. I can see him as our 6th man for sure next year. I really liked his hustle.
-Drew Valentine has some sweet moves down low and he really dominated Hope in his limited time out there. Let's see if he will dominate Summit opponents or if this was just a Hope thing.
Overall I love our team. I can't wait until the game counts on saturday.
