Can't wait to get the season started tonight. Looking forward to a good turnout from students and lots of noise and energy from the Grizz Gang.

In last year's home opener (a win over Toledo), the attendance was 2,315. With all the preseason hype this year, it would be disappointing to see less than 2,500 (hopefully more like 3,500). Unfortunately, we probably won't get much of a boost from local EMU fans, since there aren't too many of those around anymore.

Really excited for the game tonight! I'm expecting a decent turnout, especially at the tailgate because of the amazing weather outside. I think Eastern will be better than they were last year, but we just have too many weapons for them. GO OU!

3 minutes to go in the half and Oakland has already given up 35 points. Absolute dog crap defense the entire half.
Better pick up the defensive intensity in the 2nd half or they are toast.

WTF???!!! PAWS??? Really, we need to fire the entire Marketing dept!!! First, "You can afford this"--when you truly can't. Now "Paws" This is absurd--No sense of tradition or heritage at OU anymore!! Since 1997 we had 4, yes 4 different grizz mascots. They really did not need to add a fifth. Shame, shame

Going to be a long season unless the guys get several things fixed SOON. * To echo what another poster said. Yes, we apparently miss Kangas more than we may realize (at least for the time being). * Our interior defense is HORRENDOUS and I mentioned earlier today that was my big concern even when I watched the Hope game. There is some serious work to do this season but thankfully it is only game #1. With that said bye bye home winning streak .

Just got back from the O'Rena. After an 81-77 loss, not much motivation for post-game beers.
I can't believe how poorly we shot from beyond the arc and from the line. Wright was 0-9 on three pointers. Cush was 1-7. Nelson hit all of 1 free throw out of 9 trips to the line.
Benson had a double-double (15 pts, 13 boards) but played way too soft. Hudson was invisible for most of the game.
EMU played a good game, and they deserve credit. Every time we made a run, they had an answer at the other end.

Trying to take a few positives out of a loss like this:
* The crowd was decent (3,115) and the Grizz Gang kept up a pretty good energy level. The game was exciting, even though we came up short.
* Nelson looked rusty (terrible from the line, short-arming some of his shots in transition) but completely healthy. Good sign. If he averages what he did tonight (20 points, 12 boards) we should be in good shape this season.
* JJ came up with some big shots. That rainbow three was nice, and he blew by defenders for several coast to coast lay ups. I hope we don't need him to score 23 every game, but his 9 assists were a good way to pick up from last season.
* Most importantly, maybe now some of the hype can die down and the guys can just focus on playing basketball.
