Very glad to hear about South Dakota. Not sure how the travel partner situation would work out in the long term. The most important thing would be to avoid having to make a 3-game Dakota road trip, which would be brutal from Oakland's perspective. Overall, though, USD seems very solid, and I'm glad the Summit didn't lose them after all.
I would say no to Chicago State until it is absolutely clear that they are no longer a diploma mill with a microscopic graduation rate and an incompetent athletics department (although their new arena is pretty nice).
I'm not thrilled about UALR either, since they have very poor academics and would add another alphabet soup school to the conference. On the other hand, they have been established in D-1 for a long time and they have an impressive, fairly new arena.

Well considering the fact that they are a basketball school in a conference in which most schools have football. They are a natural travel partner with ORU, and I believe someone mentioned that they are unhappy and would like to leave. I also think if Chi St. turned things around they would be an attractive option, but I am not entirely well versed as to why the Summit doesn't like them so much. Thanks for the clarification. If UALR is indeed unhappy in the SBC I hope the Summit establishes contact with them and begins discussion. It would be good to have a member who doesn't have "football issues". Chicago State was booted because their Athletic Dept. was a shambles and was facing NCAA sanctions. CSU's APR is the lowest in D-I. CSU's athletic budget was the lowest in the Summit (then Mid-Con) Conference. CSU is launching a mandatory self-study of their athletic programs for NCAA certification. newsblaze.com/story/2010102813080200002.pnw/topstory.htmlThis might give the Summit the info it needs to determine whether or not to readmit the Cougars. CSU does fit the Summit geographical footprint and brings a major market to the conference. If they are clean, competent, and committing sufficient funds to their athletic dept., I would like to see them back in the conference.

I couldn't get the stream to run, but Tom Douple was on WDAY - Fargo and is reported to have said the following: Tom douppel just said there was a lot of interest in UND and still is. He said the Summit is targeting UNO and have been in contact with Saint Cloud State. He sounded positive about both. Here's the thread: www.championshipsubdivision.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18858&p=392167#p392167Seeing that both UNO and St. Cloud State play football one wonders how large the MVFC is going to be in the near future.

Not keen on the idea of adding more football schools, especially more reclassifying schools. Honestly don't want to see DI basketball get much bigger otherwise one day in the future I can see a I-A and I-AA split. That moratorium is ending a year from now though and surely more than a few schools will be looking to make the jump.
As far as UNO, they only make sense geographically in my mind. They play football in the state of Nebraksa, as in Nebraska, as in the Cornhuskers; if I have to say anything further about that, well...
And they play basketball in the city of Omaha, which is where Creighton is. Creighton averages 14,500 people per game. That city is a Creighton city.
