The transfer portal will turn mid major schools into the minor leagues for the bigger schools. disagree... very few transfers go to h higher level schools. usually equal level or lower. yes you can find some that move to a higher level but compared to the amount of transfers each year, I believe it is a small percentage

Coaches still can't recruit players from other schools during the school year. Not until they enter the transfer portal. But the coach can "recruit" if you will the players on his team so that they stay. Translate that to, Coach can treat the players like valued people to the team and the college. This will be a learning process for the coaches and they will adapt to the new way of doing businesss.

While you are right in theory, you are completely wrong in the fact that coaches can't recruit during the school year. In one of these summer podcasts/interviews, Kampe stated how guys were blowing up their phone, saying they knew they were grad transfers, and how they would love to have them. The player isn't gonna turn that coach in, because they are showing interest. While rules are nice, they are rarely followed. There has to be an approach to keep players, but why should a coach need to resell the program when they already came here. It will be interesting to see what percentage of players that transfer after freshman, redshirt freshman, and sophomore years in the next 5 years and gauge the impact of the transfer portal.

It's time Greg. Walk away with grace and humility. Walk away a legend. Don't continue to burn this to ground.
